I was very happy with my purchase of the Amazing Spider-Man #583 Comic Book, which contains a cute story of Spider-Man and our 44th President, Mr. Barack Obama. This is a historical event for not only our country, but for Marvel Comics as well. This is a wonderful addition to all the other magazines/books/articles that I am accumulating for my collection and for my...

Before the New York-based chicken shacks, tons of businesses tried to cash in on the `Obama-Rama' craze that's sweeping the nation. Marvel Comics, for example, has released the special cover variant of "Amazing Spider-Man": Issue 583 featuring President Barack Obama--now on its fifth printing. In a bonus story penned by Zeb Wells and drawn by Todd Nauck and Frank D'Armata, Spidey stops an old foe from crashing the President's inauguration. Oh, and Peter Parker still has more trouble with women than Elliot Spitzer.

While the bonus story isn't something to write about to the "Spider-Mail" column (featured in this issue), and the main story by Mark Waid and Phil Jimenez deals more with Pete's personal relationships, collectors find it worth their while to own what is certainly a piece of comic book history--before they sell it on eBay for a small fortune. Grab your copy, any copy, at retail price, while you can.

This comic is rated A for younger readers: Mild Violence.

3.0 out of 5 stars A little cliche, but I liked it, February 23, 2009
This review is from: Marvel Comic Book - The Amazing Spider-Man #583 (w/ Barack Obama) 2nd Printing (Comic)
The artwork was ok, but it seemed like a Hostess comic book. I liked the story line even though it was a little cliche. The character didn't really look like Barack Obama.

4.0 out of 5 stars Spiderman featuring Obama, February 16, 2009
This review is from: Marvel Comic Book - The Amazing Spider-Man #583 (w/ Barack Obama) 2nd Printing (Comic)
I found the article on the release of the Amazing Spiderman comic. I normally do not read Spiderman and purchased it simply because it has our president Obama on it. Risking getting caught and yelled at in a college class, I bought it used (but even though it claimed used, it was new). I hope to have it framed and have it collect value later in life, this being a huge milestone marker in history and all. I have flipped through it and it looks interesting. It was worth the risk of getting caught in class.
