A Great Synopsis of Marvel Characters for the first 4 Decades, January 24, 2010
This review is from: Marvel Comics Legacy: The 1960s-1990s Handbook (Paperback)
As a long-time reader of Marvel Comics, I thought it would be fun to have a reference guide on my shelves, in case I'd forgotten a few characters when reading current issues or trade collections. This book didn't disappoint.
It features listings, by decade, of each character and/or team, with a synopsis of their development through each of the '60s, '70s, '80s & '90s. Also included are images from various issues, showing how the characters have changed through the years.
Great book for research, reminders or to bring a young reader on board who needs some background as he/she gets introduced to comics.

Hit and miss, February 18, 2009
This review is from: Marvel Comics Legacy: The 1960s-1990s Handbook (Paperback)
It's an interesting idea, but it's a bit too hit and miss. There are too many entries featuring obscure and one-shot characters. There are also plenty of long entries about characters who actually had their own series, although no one seems to know why. (US Archer? Really?) Still, there are some points of interest for die hard fans.
