This set represents the X-Man as could be well known by anyone getting into them in the new millennium. I'd like to see a set themed around the original 1963 X-Men, but that wasn't what I bought these for and the figures in here generally work well from an atmospherics point of view.

The points value of each figure is 75, so you should expect these versions of the best-known mutant team in the history of the comics to lack TEH AWSUM in game terms. That's okay by me; I like making the most of a tactically poor situation. Ups the payoff.

The real downside to this set is the Professor X figure, which has been mounted in a Cerebro access chair module thingy that is well made and nicely sculpted and COMPLETELY OBSCURES THE CLICK DIAL! (I'm shouting because whoever made the thing clearly doesn't have much going in the senses or brain department). Someone needs to don the Cone of Shame for Bad Thinking.

It is impossible to read the dial on my example of this miniature and so I am faced with the prospect of doing one of the following: Excising the dial and keeping track of the damage on a separate device/sheet, cutting the miniature from the base and remounting it at a different angle and just not using the bloody thing.

Other than that, the set is great value for money. You get five usable figures and one useless one (you could sit him on the sidelines as a cheerleader I guess) all mounted on the new "double bezel" style click base for easy clicking without snapping the figure off the base, dice, a double sided map, cards detailing the powers of each figure, and a key for unlocking online content.

The sculpts are about average for Heroclix, neither great nor bad, with the standout in my opinion being Cyclops who looks brilliant.

Although the primary GSX set came out a year and a half before this Fast Forces pack, it was pretty much inevitable that this set would come out eventually. (Demand drives the market, as we all know!) So, after the long wait, is this set a satisfactory offering? Well, I'm not so sure. I was expecting more, to be honest, but I guess this pack is OK.

Included in this pack (as is the case with all FF packs) are six newly-redialed figures, a pair of dice, and one two-sided map. Figures in this set are: Professor X, Cyclops, Beast, Wolverine, Rogue, and Iceman. Interestingly enough, all figures in the set are at identical 75-point totals. So, if you were looking to have lower-point versions of these characters to fit on your teams, I guess that is a plus. If these are not some of your favorite characters, though, that is a negative.

Power sets on these characters will probably be disappointing to most, as these versions are definitely "powered-down" from the versions in the regular GSX set. The figures have good synergy with other X-Men keyworded figures, but all have short dials (wolverine has the longest with 7 clicks and Professor X has the shortest with 5 clicks).

The mini dice are nothing special. I honestly never use the mini dice from any of the FF packs, as they feel too small to me and never seem to roll well, either.

The map included in this set has the Starcore Space Station on one side and the Abondoned Weapon X Facility on the other. Both maps are OK, and neither have any special "orange line" areas with special effects. The Abandoned Weapon X Facility map is one of the cooler maps to come along in a while.

Overall, not a terrible set, but not one of the better Fast Forces sets available.

Picked this up because I started playing some time after GSX came out and even the commons are getting harder to come by. The Wolverine and Iceman are my favorites, but it's nice to have a Professor X for theme teams that doesn't set me back $30. If you missed the GSX set, then pick this up as they make a nice team and a few figures may find some utility beyond that. If you have the GSX figures then I would wait before picking this up.

Awesome started set, great figures, you get Wolverine, Cyclops, Professor X, Rogue, Beast and Iceman. Instructions, but you dont get the power and abilities sheet.... you can still get that on the website, but still that something you think you would get on a started set. Besides that, great product.
