This pack has been a long time coming. Is it worth the wait?
on July 29, 2012
Although the primary GSX set came out a year and a half before this Fast Forces pack, it was pretty much inevitable that this set would come out eventually. (Demand drives the market, as we all know!) So, after the long wait, is this set a satisfactory offering? Well, I'm not so sure. I was expecting more, to be honest, but I guess this pack is OK.
Included in this pack (as is the case with all FF packs) are six newly-redialed figures, a pair of dice, and one two-sided map. Figures in this set are: Professor X, Cyclops, Beast, Wolverine, Rogue, and Iceman. Interestingly enough, all figures in the set are at identical 75-point totals. So, if you were looking to have lower-point versions of these characters to fit on your teams, I guess that is a plus. If these are not some of your favorite characters, though, that is a negative.
Power sets on these characters will probably be disappointing to most, as these versions are definitely "powered-down" from the versions in the regular GSX set. The figures have good synergy with other X-Men keyworded figures, but all have short dials (wolverine has the longest with 7 clicks and Professor X has the shortest with 5 clicks).
The mini dice are nothing special. I honestly never use the mini dice from any of the FF packs, as they feel too small to me and never seem to roll well, either.
The map included in this set has the Starcore Space Station on one side and the Abondoned Weapon X Facility on the other. Both maps are OK, and neither have any special "orange line" areas with special effects. The Abandoned Weapon X Facility map is one of the cooler maps to come along in a while.
Overall, not a terrible set, but not one of the better Fast Forces sets available.
