Marvel Legends 6" Figure: Bishop

In case you are unfamiliar with the character of Bishop, and my title confused you, Bishop is one of 2 X-Men who have been temporally dislocated from a possible future into our present timeline. The other is Cable in case you were wondering.
I recently had the chance to pick up both versions of Bishop, and I must say the Bald Variant, is by far my favorite figre of this series, possibly of the entire ML line. Part of that could be his resemblence to Avery Brooks a.k.a. Captain Benjamin Sisko from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Okay, okay, a really pissed off Captain Sisko.
Both figures are well made, and seem to feature a brand new sculpt.
Both are well articulated, and very beefy figures. The accessories, the two guns, are very nice, and seeing as some figures in this line don't even have accessories other than their Apocalypse piece.
The varaint features a slightly different head scuplt, as well as slightly different paint ops, and does NOT come with Bishop's almost signature red bandanna (though the card back pictures it with it).
This is a great figure, ready for some serious Kick-Tush! Even if you don't want Apocalypse (are you crazy?) Bishop is still worth getting as he is a great figure in his own right. If you pass this one up you'll just wind up with a sore backside later on.

If you've been keeping up with the Marvel Legends action figure line lately then you know that they have started an excellent Build A Figure (BAF) program. Starting with series 9 the Galactus Series, followed by the awesome Sentinel Series, a kind of lame Legendary Riders Series came next, but now we have the Apocalypse series. Collect all six of the figures in this series, each with a piece of the 5000 year old mutant menace and build your own 14 inch Apocalypse. The figures are all sculpted and painted well and as is usual with Marvel Legends, have tons of articulation. The BAF is just as articulated as the small figures and paint and sculpt are so fine as to look like a 14 inch sculpture rather than plastic action figure.

The Bishop figure itself, while not exactly the most popular X-man, is very visually interesting. He comes with two big guns for accesories which can be holstered, one on the thigh and one in a back holster, or placed in each hand via a peg and they fit well. There is lots of detail in the sculp and they have made him very muscular. He looks like he could really kick some butt even without the guns.

Good figure, durable and looks great. If you like the Marvel Legends line or X-men or want to build that giant Apocalypse this one is a good buy.

Marvel Legends Bishop:

PROS:
1. Most important to me is that the figure is sturdy and can actually stand up on its own. This is due to him having chunky soled boots which balances the body. The figure is sturdy but still flexible (as much as a 6 foot plus over 250 lb man might be in real life).
2. Accurately resembles the long-haired Bishop when he 1st debuted circa 1990's w/ his stocky, chiseled, muscular physique. His biceps are huge and I 1st thought his arms could not be lowered, but hold the arm firmly and press down on shoulder joint and his arm goes down normally. (lol similar to the way muscle bound guys in real life can not straighten their arms completely). Which i think is a cool, realistic effect on this figure.
3. Uniform gives off the relastic effect of a military/officer uniform with its texture and wrinkles.
4. The facial expression is great, he totally comes across as the loose cannon he is described to be in the comic. He looks as if he is ready to chase down a renegade mutant and blast him!
5. His long hair is flowing and is a more rubbery material as well as his neckscarf.
6. Although photo depicts big gun holder on right leg, the figure really has the holster on back true to the comics, also helms him balance.

CONS:
1. When holding his big guns, Bishop can become a bit unstable and topple over because the weight of guns makes leg joints wobble. Requires minimal effort posing him in a manner so that he's balanced
2. Would've been cool if they included a hand accessory to display his energy rechannel mutant power.

OVERALL NICE FIGURE!

Bishop is an awesome figure!! One of the best in the series. A brand new body sculpt has Bishop looking large and in charge. The articulation is very good and the joints were tight and well concealed. The paint job and details are excellent. Bishop also has two, huge guns that fit on pegs in his hands. All his fingers are articulated, but the thumbs are not. Once the guns are fitted on to the pegs, the fingers close around the grips fairly well. You might want wrap one of those clear rubber bands around his hands just to make sure the guns won't fall off that easily. He also has 2 holsters for his guns that hold them nice and snug for when you want his hands free for a good ol' fashion fist beating. His arms are massive so there isn't a great deal of mobility with them. However, he looks so darn good, you'll never care about it. Bishop comes with a copy of the Bishop #2 comic book. It's not very good at showing you who Bishop is and what he can do. It doesn't even show him using his mutant ability. It leaves you with more questions than answers. You actually get more information about the villain he's fighting, MountJoy, than about Bishop. This series is called the Apocalypse Series because, as in past series, the 6 figures have a piece of the 7th, larger figure-Apocalypse. Apocalypse is a 5,000-year-old mutant and an arch nemesis of the X-Men. He turns out to be 14 inches tall and he looks really, really good when he is all assembled. He IS the best one in the series. Most people probably won't consider the character selection in this series to be the best, so it was a good idea for ToyBiz to release these figures in this fashion. Personally, I love the character selection AND the idea of building another, larger figure. They should continue it in future releases. Everyone will want to put together their own Apocalypse since he was very hard to get when he made his 6-inch appearance in Marvel Legends 7. Bishop is pretty well stocked, so if you want him for the Apocalypse piece or not, you're still getting a great action figure who plays and displays well. This is an excellent item for Marvel Legends/X-Men fans.
