5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent rendition of a classic armor., November 14, 2004

This review is from: Marvel Legends Series 7 Action Figure Silver Centurion Armor Iron Man (Toy)
This is an excellent rendition of one of the classic Iron Man armors. The figure also comes with the legendary comic in which Iron Man faces off with Iron Monger. The paint on the figure has a beautiful metallic gloss, which makes it far more visually stunning than the series 1 Iron Man (which was also a great figure). The deep crimson hue of the armor would be perfect for Iron Man's foe Crimson Dynamo. As said in the other review, the articulation is the same as in the series 1 figure; however, the first figure had such great articulation, very little is missing here. The face-plate on my figure looks great. Perhaps not all of them came out well. The rocket pack does not appear to fit properly, but surprisingly, still looks great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT IRON MAN FIGURE..., November 18, 2004

This Iron Man figure is something special. I missed my chance to review the first Iron Man figure. And, since this new Iron Man is essentially the same thing with a different color scheme, I finally get my chance. Normally, I would be upset with ToyBiz for recycling another version of a character through their action figure lines. But, this is different. It's different because it's NOT another Wolverine or Spiderman. Two characters that I love, but they are grossly over-produced. Iron Man isn't. Yeah, sure, he may have had two variant figures back in Series 1, but since they were so rare and hard to find anywhere, not everybody could get one-so they don't even matter. This Iron Man is beautifully done. The articulation is very good. The paint job is done with rich, vibrant colors. The rocket accessory is really cool and attaches pretty easily to Iron Man's back. You can also hang him from the wall by his rocket, too. It looks great. The figure also comes with a comic book that is perfect for this particular character. It's the issue with the first appearance of Iron Man wearing this armor. You get a very good idea of who Tony Stark (Iron Man's alter ego) is and what this armored suit can do. The only down side of this figure that I can think of is that his removable faceplate is made of a more pliable grade of plastic. This was noted by previous reviewers, too. As a result, it feels a little cheap and may have trouble staying on the face of the figure. Only time will tell on that issue. Mine still stays on fine. And, if there comes a day when it won't stay on anymore, I'll glue it on permanently. Having Tony Stark's face under the mask is great, but not something I would miss if I had to glue the mask on. Not to mention, this figure is one of the easier ones to find in this series. So, you can always get another one with little or no trouble. Plus, the shoulder piece of the rocket fits over Iron Man's head and comes up to his eyes. So, that can also help keep the mask on. Consequently, I strongly recommend this figure to any Marvel/Avengers/Iron Man fan. It is great for play or display.

4.0 out of 5 stars Iron Man..., October 24, 2004

This review is from: Marvel Legends Series 7 Action Figure Silver Centurion Armor Iron Man (Toy)
Well...

I'm really trying hard to find what makes this Iron Man better than Series I's Iron Man, but I can't. Sculpting's a little better, but not by too much. Paint's nice, if a bit uneven. Some of the red's gorgeous, some of it looks washed with white. None of the fancy new articulation is present here, he's just as articulated as the first Iron Man.

What gets me most is that his faceplate is made of a soft-rubber-like plastic rather than the hard plastic of the first Iron Man's. It looks bad, too. It really does. Good thing that the rocket's shoulderpads obscure most of his face.

If you don't have the first Iron Man, get this figure. If you do, and you're not a Marvel Legends completist like me, don't bother. He's definitely no improvement from the original model from two years ago.
