5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS AN EXCELLENT SET OF FIGURES TO OWN!!
This boxed set is worth every penny you pay for it. It has only a few minor drawbacks, but the benefits far outweigh the problems. If anyone had trouble buying the villians from the Spiderman Classics series of figures (i.e., all of us), this is your lucky day. Let's start at the top: Electro, Venom, and the Green Goblin make this set a "must have". They are all...

3.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!
I had trouble with the Green Goblin figure in which the hand/forearm separated from his arm. At each point of articulation it seems that whatever is used to "finish" the piece causes it to stick. The Goblin's arm separated at this "point of articulation". No problem; I'll just ask Toy Biz to replace the piece for me because it was clearly defective. However, after...

They are all exclusive to this boxed set. Electro is brand new and looks out of this world!! His body is the same mold as the Mr. Fantastic from Marvel Legends 5 and Spiderman from the Urban Legends boxed set. Excellent poseability!! Venom appeared in an early series of the Spiderman Classics figures, but leaved a lot to be desired. He did NOT have the articulation that this Venom has!! Venom's body comes out of the Marvel Legends Sabretooth figure. And, they gave him a newly sculpted head to boot. He truly looks the way he should--big, mean, and poseable. The Green Goblin is very nice, but really is just a repainting of the Spiderman Classics Hobgoblin figure with a different head. Complete with the "ragged and torn" look of his gloves and boots. This is something the real Green Goblin doesn't have. The Green Goblin's boots and gloves should look undamaged, yet crumpled. Kind of like when you wear your sleeves or tube socks with a little slack in them to allow for movement. On the bright side, this figure comes with something that the Hobgoblin never had (but should have)--a shoulder bag to wear around the Green Goblin's neck. His "bag of tricks", if you will. This bag carries all of his infamous weapons--pumpkin bombs (2 of them are included), razor bats, gas bombs, etc. A very nice and necessary accessory for this figure. Green Goblin also comes with his own Goblin Glider. Moving on to Doc Ock and Kraven, these figures were also previously released and come in this box set with either new heads, new paint jobs, or both. Personally, I like this Kraven better than the first one they released. He has a very maniacal look on his face which makes him look more, well...sinister. Hence the name of the boxed set, I suppose. Kraven comes with all his previously released accessories--knife, bolo gun, and machete. He even has body hair on his chest and an unshaved face. Very nice, ToyBiz. Doc Ock has the least amount of poseability, but his tentacles are long, bendy and look true to the classic, comic book version. His glasses are also secured to his face so they won't fall off during play. The Black Cat is NOT a member of the Sinister Six and never was. Why they portray her to be is beyond reason. You would think that the company who owns the same character's comic books and toys would figure this out. Maybe not--considering a lot of the silly things that Marvel/ToyBiz does with its merchandise. The Black Cat is Spidey's ally and former girlfriend. She is NOT done justice in this boxed set. She has the same body sculpt as Elektra from Marvel Legends 4 and Rogue from the Marvel Legends X-Men Gift Pack. This sculpt is terrible. It is articulated in such a goofy way that it prevents decent posability. You would be lucky to get this figure to even stand up without it doing the splits. Playing with the figure is just as hard because the joints are so numerous and weak. And, let's not forget her face....EWWWW! She looks like a man with a white wig on his head. ToyBiz totally missed the marked on capturing the true beauty of the Black Cat. Her eyes are painted blue when on the box her statistics say they should be green. She has no accessories, either. Marvel Select's version of the Black Cat is much more pleasing to the eye and sculpted very well, but lacks any poseability. That's the trade-off, I guess. Spiderman is also no big thrill in this set. It's a new sculpt for him which includes underarm webbing. Nice idea, but not at all durable. Any kid will have these torn or torn off in no time. The sculpt and articulation are only OK. Not great, but OK. Not much else to say about him other than that there are better renditions of Spiderman available. All in all, a worthy toy set to own for any Spiderman fan, young and old.

However, after speaking with a customer service rep, I was offered given the "choice" to send the entire set of all seven figures back. BUT, the customer service rep said that I may NOT receive a Spiderman & the Sinister Six set back. It could be replaced with another set such as the Fantastic Four. What a bunch of baloney! Who would replace a defective product with something out of their grab bag?! I bought this set and I want THIS set! They are great figures but I can guarantee that the "points of articulation" will also stick on your set and one of yours may even separate. Then line up in the "Suckers" line behind me.

This would be one wicked set if it wasn't for the Black Cat. I was excited that the Cat was getting a Marvel Legend figure and it looked good while it was still in the box. Once I took it out I was disappointed. It is simply overarticulated so that it won't even stay standing with it's base. The rest of the figures in this set were great. Electro is easily my favorite, the articulation on this figure is perfect and the likeness is spot on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cons and Pros, May 12, 2005

While a good set for chasing down hard to find figures like Green Goblin (which is why I wanted this set) or Electro. The Figures are good if you don't plan to take it out of the box. But if you try to play around with the articulation you'll find they're not as durable as it could be.

Green Goblin for one has both his arms badly supported that if you movie it too much from the torso the 1 thin piece of plastic that's supporting both arms would come loose.

I had a problem again with the durability of Spider-Man. Usually when you buy a new action figure you have to literally break into it cause most of these Marvel Legends figures have really stiff joints that you hav to turn and you'll feel a click inorder to loosen it and pose it. Well, everything was fine till one of the arms refused to rotate and and instead the arm tore off. I had to reconnect it by making a small hole between the forearm and upper part of the arm and using the metal part of a push-pun to reconnect it.

Another con is not all the figures are fully articulate like most of the Marvel Legends figures are like Doc Ock has the least beside the deltoid muscles being fully articulate, the rest of the figure's articulation is just like the old 90s Marvel figure.
Green Gobline also lack articulation on the hand and wrist, the pro to that is though is his hands are really well sculpted.

The best figure in the set with no problems is Venom which uses a repainted Marvel Legends Sabretooth body with full articulation which is a step up from the regular Spiderman line Venom and Electro is well sculpted and fully articulate.

The worst figures are probably Kraven the Hunter and Blackcat.

Overall there are cons and pros to this set. You'll have to weigh it out yourself.
