This review is from: Marvel Legends Series 9: 'The Galactus Series' Bullseye Action Figure (Toy)
bullseye is one of the coolest daredevil villens. worth the money. plus the comic book is action packed and feature a lot of bullseye unlike most ml comics that only feature one page of the figure. you just have to cut index cards into tiny pieces and wedge them in between his fingers for weapons.

Bullseye, one of Daredevil's arch rivals, finally makes his appearance in Marvel Legends. I'm all for new characters being released in the line, so this guy is one of my most anticipated figures from Series 9. Sadly, he doesn't live up to the hype. Or rather, perhaps my expectations were simply too high. .
The sculpt is reasonably good, but not outstanding. The facial expression is quite sinister, which is what I'd expect for a villain. The body sculpt is typical Toy Biz standards, with overall aesthetics being sacrificed for a lot of articulation points. It doesn't sound as bad though, and he certainly looks better than some terrible sculpts like Iceman from the previous wave. The details on his costume, however, don't look so good. The belt, for example, appears to suffer from very rushed work, and looks very muffled. But this is not Bullseye's only problem. The paint ops on Bullseye is one of the worst I've seen in Marvel Legends. It's a mess, basically. There is excessive bleeding on paint all over the shop. You get it on his face, where the white areas from bullseye logo get lot of navy paint. You get it on his shoulders and chest, where the lines are crooked and amatuerish. You get it on his gloves, belt and boots, where messy blue paint is all over the white. And the scar-faced effect tops it all with a skin-disease effect. Whether it was deliberate, it looks very rushed, and understandably very bad as well. I've reviewed many Marvel Legends Series 9 figures on my website, and one of my main complaints is that most of them have no character-specific accessories. He does have a left leg of Galactus, which helps you to, well, form a 16" Galactus if you get all figures in the series. This is why the series is dubbed the "Galactus Series". A 16" Galactus is a great concept, but I'd rather Toy Biz releases the figure as a stand-alone instead of sacrificing character-specific accessories in the regular Marvel Legends assortment. 44 points of articulation make Bullseye a hell lot of posing fun. These movement are found on his neck, shoulders (multiple points that stretch to the back), upper arms, double elbows, lower arms, wrists, fingers, torso, waist, hips, upper legs, double knees, lower legs, ankles and toes. While this may be quite the standard for characters of this scale, ie. the leaner looking ones, it's still quite a feat to have so much movement on a 6" figure. I'm quite surprised they didn't allow his wrists joints to be "cut" though. Instead, he was given a riveting joint, which kind of restricting, since Bullseye regularly moves his arms around to throw projectiles towards his victims. In a nutshell, Bullseye has a reasonably good sculpt, atrocious paint work, great articulation and zero accessories. Depending on what's important to you, you may rate Bullseye differently. For me, Bullseye is an important character in the Marvel Universe who deserves better. In fact, I'd rather see more of these previously unreleased characters than doing multiple variations of Wolverine and Ironman. But of course, I'd also expect a better quality toy than this. I've mixed reactions over Bullseye. He's simply too inconsistent to become a great Marvel Legends figure. As a result, I'd recommend him to the completist only. |
