Marvel Legends Sentinel Series Figure: Cyclops

From the Sentinel Series, (or Series 10), is the Cyclops action figure. He is a pretty nice figure. It's the same body sculpt as the Spiderman Classics Kraven the Hunter and Nick Fury from Marvel Legends 5, so the articulation is good. The joints were tight and nicely concealed on this figure. The paint job is very good, but I think they went a little too far on the yellow areas of his costume. They put so much dark paint on the recessed, shadowy areas that his gloves, trunks, and boots look just plain dirty. As if he just got done changing the oil on the Blackbird or something. I was real excited to see this figure, but was disappointed to find out that the picture ON the package has the figure looking better than what you actually get IN the package. More specifically, his legs from the shin on down to his feet. They are just too short and stubby looking. The top folds of his boot almost reach down to the top of his foot. His feet seem really big, too. He comes with a copy of the classic X-Men #201 comic book. My son enjoyed reading it. There is also a variant version of this figure floating around that has Cyclops in his X-Factor costume. It's a lighter colored blue with white instead of yellow accents. I've seen it and think the white bands that form the "X" on the front and back of the costume need to be broader. And, again, his white gloves, trunks, and boots look "dirty white" instead of white. Despite my personal complaints, this figure is really worth owning. As I mentioned, he is part of the Sentinel Series. Which means 2 things this time-you get a wall mountable display base AND you get a piece of the Sentinel's huge 16-inch body. The display base is simply a pedestal-style base of clear plastic to make the character seem as if they are flying or in the middle of a jump. But, it can be placed on the wall or on a sturdy, flat surface for displaying. It is basically the same base that came with the Vision and Deadpool figures. When you get 6 of the 7 figures in this series (Mystique and Omega Red have the same body piece), the pieces can be joined together to make the 8th figure in the series-the Sentinel!! The massive, mechanical menace that hunts down the X-Men and other mutants and eliminates them. Everyone will surely buy all the figures they will need in order to get the Sentinel. It truly looks awesome when it is assembled. Then again, the character selection in this series is so exciting; you'll want to buy them regardless of the Sentinel. This figure is not that well stocked, so finding another may not be easy. ToyBiz is trying to make sure there is enough of every character so that everyone has a chance to build the Sentinel. Get him before he's gone.

Good 'ol Cyclops. Sturdy, dependable and tough but not too exciting. That sums up his character and sums up the action figure too.

The figure is very sturdy and they've given him a stout body. He is very well articulated with which I am pleased. All the standard Marvel Legends joints can be found and they are sturdy and some are hidden well, such as cut ankels and and wrists. The standard version is a basic blue and yellow. Accurate but, lets face it not a real fun costume design. Not really the figure's fault but there it is. He does suffer from a bit of black wash making him look grimy but if you wore birght yellow boots and gloves into battle they probably would get dirty.

He does come with a piece of the giant mutant hunting 16" Sentinel. Since Cyke is probably the most basic figure in this series he does make a good one for the Sentinel to grapple in its tentacles while he holds a hand to his visor to blast the purple menace.

So, good solid figue, just a bit boring.

Cyclops is the X-Men's Leader, so it is nice to finally have a Legends Version of him. Past X-Men in the Legends line include Colossus, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, Cable, Pheonix, Several Wolverines, Ice Man, Storm, Nightcrawler, Professor X, and Angel. So now they finally get a combat leader. Professor X is obviously their overall leader.

The figure is a little boring, but that's due to costume design, although, God knows why, Cyclops did wear this yellow and blue ensemble for years and years in the comic books. The variant figure, which is the one I bought, has his X-Factor, blue and white ensemble, which I much prefer. But seeing as your X-Men, and your Sentinel won't be complete without Cyclops, he is still well worth adding to the collection.

This figure is awsome I own the regular and the varient. I'm glad that Cyclops doesn't move at the waist like most of the figures. Of course I didn't open the varient because it's worth 32 bucks. Other than the fact the varient has lipstick lips it's suit is still cool. I like the fact that they finally came out with some good x-men series marvel legends figures. I like everyone in this series, but mystique. After seeing the apocalypse series I'm disappointed. There's a samuri santa hulk and X-23. there's bishop, but How about some more good x-men and avengers. Psylocke, she hulk, thor "with beard", scarlet witch "recalled", Arcangel "metal wings", Tigra, Havok, Pyro, Sauron, and Quicksilver. Rerelease scarlet witch, hawkeye, vision, phoenix. There should at least more x-men in the apocalypse series "HELLO"

Scott Summers is a legend for every x-man fan. Specially with this uniform (mid 70's). A classic from phoenix saga and my childhood. Good times... Are back!

This toy is overall pretty darn good. He's well articulated, the sculpt is fantastic, and none of his parts were stuck or loose when I took him out of the package. Any time you have as many points of articulation as you have on a Marvel Legends toy, there's a potential for crummy joint disaster. My only suggestion to improve this toy would be to add a joint in the midsection so his torso could tilt forward or backward and I would have also gone with a neck joint that provided for a greater range of movement. Cyclop's power comes from his eyes, he should be able to point his head in a multitude of directions. I could have also done without the black paint wash as well. The untreated blue and yellow colors would have been just fine. Overall, this was a good toy, not the star of the line by any means, but well worth what I paid. :)

great detail and highly poseable. shipping was timely, i highly recommend buying this toy as i did, after it's release instead of wasteing your time on amazon's "pre-sales"
