5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection
This is an amazing collection of action figures for X-men fans. It includes fan favorites Gambit Rogue Wolverine and Beast along with Magneto. Rogue's face is a little off and she towers over Gambit (as does Wolverine) but it's nice to see really nice sculpts of these great characters. Definitely a great addition to anyone's collection and an awesome low price.

This review is from: Marvel Legends X-Men Legends 5 Pack Action Figures - Gambit, Magneto, Beast, Rogue and Wolverine Plus Special Poster Book (Toy)
For those who are looking into collecting Marvel Legends action figures, this is an excellent starter set. It comes with 3 of the best figures of the mutant team The X-Men that Toy Biz has made. Here's a list:

Beast - Excellent overlooked figure with excellent poseability. He can even be posed standing on one hand and stay there indefinitely. This version includes a pair of eyeglasses to hearken to the characters' literary bent and a cloth doctor's overcoat for those wanting to make note of the fact he is Dr. Henry McCoy.

Gambit - Essentially the same figure as the Marvel Legends 4 Gambit but has a much better paint job and a pleather overcoat that makes the figure resemble his comci counterpart most closely of anyone in this set.

Wolverine - This is an unmasked variant of the Marvel Legends 3 Wolverine. That figure originally had an Unmasked chase variant with a different head that proved popular enough to retail for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market. Toy Biz wisely created a similar figure for this set as a way of placating collectors with a feral headsculpt. Excellent figure, but it is the exact same figure as ML3 only witha different head.

Magneto - Also the exact same figure as Marvel Legends 3 Magneto, only with an open mouthed "angry" head sculpt.

Rogue - The "chase" piece in this set. It can only be obtained in this set. It has the same body as Marvel Legends 4 Elektra. Overly articulated in my opinion and the face is off-putting, but it will likely be the only Rogue figure Toy Biz makes so for completionists this is a must have.

The set also comes with a poster book and four "X" logo X-Men stands for display purposes.

Rouge- Not for me. Good only for a collection. Can't stand right.

Gambit- O.K., not real good but not bad either. Very posable.

Wolverine-Preety good. His claws tend to bend sometimes.

Beast- Great, absolutley great. Won't fall down unless you want him to. He looks great. One of the 2 best in the pack.

Magneto- The other best in the pack. His suit is awesome. Good posability, but not so much where he will fall over, just like Beast.

WOW! Marvel Legends figures were a great idea. Now, putting 5 Marvel Legends figures in one package was even better. This line of action figures keeps rolling along and getting better and better each time. My two boys already have Gambit, Magneto, and Beast between the two of them. But, they fought over sharing them. Problem solved now!! They both have the characters that they want and THEY LOVE 'EM! These toys are durable and fun!! The bonus, of course, is getting the Rogue figure. She is not available by herself--she only comes exclusive to this gift pack. And, even though she has the same female body mold as Elektra, it is worth having her. Any X-men fan needs to have this item. Keep these figures coming, Toy-Biz!!

This review is from: Marvel Legends X-Men Legends 5 Pack Action Figures - Gambit, Magneto, Beast, Rogue and Wolverine Plus Special Poster Book (Toy)
I've bought quite a few action figures in my day, but this is only the second Marvel Legends set that I've purchased. The first set was the "Urban Legends" set that featured Daredevil, Punisher, Spidey, and Elektra. That set was okay, but this X-Men Legends pack is heads and tails above it. First of all, it combines many of my favorite mutants in one set at a low price. I've got Nightcrawler from "X-2" and now I need to get my hands on a good Cyclops figure. Anyway, this set is really nice.

Now, here's a breakdown of the good and bad of each figure:

Beast-The best figure in the set. The lab coat and glasses are a nice touch, but what I really like is how easy it is to pose the big guy. You even have the option of opening or closing his mouth. Nothing too wrong with this figure.

Gambit-Almost as good as Beast. His trenchcoat is really nice, and his bo and charged playing cards are a plus. The only bad thing about this figure is that Gambit doesn't hold his cards very well.

Magneto and Wolverine-I lumped these two together because both of them are pretty nice figures. I especially love Magneto's cape. Wolverine's claws were a little bent when I took him out of the box, but with a little work they should be okay. Both of these figures are very poseable, and Wolverine strikes a nice pose on his display stand. I prefer displaying Magneto holding his helmet instead of him wearing it, because the helmet doesn't fit him quite right on the figure I received. It keeps popping up and sits at an odd angle on his head.

Rogue-Unfortunately, the worst figure in the bunch. As with Elektra in the "Urban Legends" pack, she just has too many points of articulation. I'd rather a well-crafted figure with less moving parts than a flimsy one with too many. Overall, the figure isn't too terrible, but her wrists and forearms are weak and she isn't that easy to pose. She's still worth buying the set, however.

The poster book is a nice touch, and the display stands actually fit the characters, unlike the ones in the "Urban Legends" pack.
This set is a really good buy at a budget price. It's great for beginners and folks who want to collect as many of their heroes as possible for as little cash as possible.

4.0 out of 5 stars Legends worth having in your collection, September 9, 2004

Marvel Legends X-men legends box set is well worth the price. If you haven't picked this set up you really should. These modified reissues are almost new figures altogether.
Gambit - the pleather coat is great and captures the true "spirit" of the character. I'm glad I didn't buy the single carded version. This one is WAY better.
Beast - The accessories are a keeper here. The glasses and lab coat allow a great figure to become even that much better.
Magneto - The new head sculpt with the helmet on looks like it came right out of a Jim Lee Comic. A definite improvement over the single card release that was perfect.
Rogue - She's the exclusive. While I'm not too keen on the head sculpt, (She looks a tad rough. I prefer softer feminine facial features on my female figures like Bbi's Cy-Girls) It's great to have another Female Legends figure. She looks like she stepped off a comic page.
Wolverine - The disappointment of the box set. He's too tall, his head comes off and he looks like he's screaming. If you really need an unmasked Wolverine, get the chase.

4.0 out of 5 stars X-Men Legends--Send in the retreads!!!, July 23, 2004
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

This would be a great starter set for anyone just beginning to collect Marvel Legends figures. For those whose collection precedes this set, it's sort of a ripoff to get Rogue for your collection.
The Wolverine figure is different because it is unmasked. I guess they did this to settle everyone who complains about chase variants. I for one hate them myself. Serious though, how many Logans do we need? There's the regular nineties Wolverine, the 80's brown and gold in series 6, and Weapon X forthcoming in series 7. I'd rather see more unique characters instead of more retreads of Logan and Iron Man. That's just me though, bub!
Gambit's virtually identical unless you like the matching pleather coat to go with Rogue.
Same for everyone's favorite oversized Smurf. The Beast is a retread except for his nifty labcoat and glasses. I'm gonna try painting him grey to be the Dark Beast. I'm such a loser.
Magneto--he's back, only more angry. Again, so what. Give me Mister Sinister, or even Toad. I think they learned their lesson with retreads. Look at the Sinister Six pack, mostly new characters. Bravo.
Rogue. Great, good sculpt, great look. Maybe a little too much lipstick, but...
Overall, grab it cheap to get Rogue, or if you're just starting. Otherwise, eh? Actually saw a box at WalMart where someone just took the Rogue figure out. Guess you could do that too.

This Figure set is an awesome one! It includes the same Gambit figure from Marvel Legends series 4 with a brand new leather coat. The same Beast figure Marvel Legends Series 4 with a brand new lab coat and glasses. Also Wolverine and Magneto with brand new head sculpts! This is the set that has the exclusive Rogue figure! A lot of people may not like this figure but I think its really a beautiful figure. The new sculpts are really good! If having trouble with moving the joints just freeze them for about 15 minutes. Also stands and awesome poster book comes with this as well! Get these now for this extremely low price!

The entire Marvel Legends line has been amazing, with the exception of the movie Daredevil figure, of course. Toy Biz keeps pushing the limits on articulation and detail on this great line of toys. The biggest discussion around between my son and I ussualy veers towards the release dates on these figures! The X-Men boxed set is a great way to grab these hard to find toys, and the only way to score Rogue. The other figures have been reviewed to death, but the variants are nice. Wolverine's maskless snarl is tons of fun and a great way to make up for the previous unmasked variant. Gambit looks even cooler in his "leather" coat, and Beast, the coolest figure in this set, is captured perfectly in lab coat and specs. Magneto is pretty much the same, despite the new face. Rogue is off of the new female body Toy Biz put together for this line, and despite looking awkward is really incredibly poseable. I don't mind paying for minor variations on a basic figure (Elektra and Rogue are essentially the same figure, just like Thor and the upcoming Collossus figure) if this level of detail and articulation is preserved. The price is REALLY good here, as opposed to hunting through stores and getting gouged on Ebay. Also, my 7 year old so and 3 year old daughter have played extensively with all of these toys and they have held up well. Enjoy!
