The Golden Age's greatest Axis fighters, The Human Torch and Toro, Captain America and Bucky, the Sub-Mariner, the Destroyer, the Whizzer, Miss America and the 3xs are collected for the fist time in this fantastic collection reprinting #1-4 of THE ALL WINNERS COMICS, with scripts by Stan Lee, Carl Burgos, Jack Kirby, Joe Simon and Bill Everett with dynamic artwork from Jack Kirby, Carl Burgos, Al Avison, Joe Simon, Bill Everett, Jack Binder, Paul Gustavson, Mike Sekowsky and Bob Powell.

This 280 page star-spangled- anthem is a must have for any Marvel comic fan or early comic book enthusiasts who have enjoyed vintage comic collections like Dick Briefer's The Monster of Frankenstein or Monster Masterworks.

This book reprints the exciting early golden age stories of the early marvel comics line. The company at the time was trying out many characters in their other anthology titles like "usa comics" which were ok to great characters. (the laughing mask is a one great one from those books) but most of those characters didn't last long. This anthology showcased successful characters like 'captain america" , "the destroyer" and others who had longer lifespans. Of course these comics are from there era and aren't as many-faceted as todays stories. But they are entertaining and you get them in this reprint series looking better than they ever did in the original comic books. That's what great about reprints; the paper quality is so much better and everything looks great.
You don't have to be comics fan to enjoy the solid fun of these stories, and this volume has many great artists in it like Simon and kirby, Bill Everet, Carl Burgos and others. The wartime adventures of the golden age heroes were also their finest moments too, and these come from that era. It's just well worth grabbing and it's cheaper now that it's been out for a while.

Marvel/Atlas/Timely in the early 1940's can lay claim to three super stars: Captain America (and Bucky); The Human Torch (and Toro); the Submariner. This company also turned out books as try-out camps for 40?50? others who failed...but, this company did have some triple A superheroes. The All-Winners Squad was aptly named as it consisted of the "big three" listed above plus the triple A Destroyer...with Whizzer thrown in.

Obviously, the All-Winners grouping plus each issue being one long story with a common villian was Timely's attempt at their own Justice Society of America/All Star comic. Even the name..All Winners was part of that attempt.
The 1st 4 issues collected in this book are the cream of the crop..they are 1941-1942 issues when Simon, Kirby, Burgos, Everett are doing writing/drawing.
