This set is intended as a good starter for collectors just getting into Minimates, as it offers up new versions of popular Marvel heroes. Unfortunately, in most cases these Minimates are outclassed by other versions on the market. The Cap figure in particular is a weak effort, as it's essentially impossible to get his mask to line up and fit snugly. Spider-Man is decent, but his mask is too large and makes his head look swollen. Hulk suffers from haphazard paint work, as the other reviewer noted. The only figure really worth acquiring is Wolverine, and only then because of the exclusive costume. Luckily, he doesn't appear as ugly as the stock photo would have you believe. In short, whereas the Villains boxset is a worthwhile investment with decent rehashes of old figures, this set isn't worth paying even standard MSRP, much less the inflated price being charged now. There are cheaper and better versions of these Minimates available.

I got these for my 5-year-old this Christmas. The set we got is Captain America, Spiderman, Thor and Iron Man.

He is really into superheroes, since he has a father who knows ALL of the stories of ALL of the characters. And he is really into LEGO, which these sort of work with, so this was perfect for him. He already had The Scorpion and Spiderman House of M combo pack, so we already knew they were fairly easily broken, even by kids who really are careful with their toys.

The details were really neat - the way Captain America's and Thor's masks come off and the little weapons they come with - we really liked those. However, very poorly made - Thor's foot isn't secure and needs to be glued in to actually stay on. I suspect these aren't meant to be played with so much as displayed. They either need to make them sturdier, or stop selling them as childrens' toys and just sell them as collectibles.

This was the case with our previous set, as well - they broke fairly easily with only one day of play - and as I said, my son is in no way rough on his toys. When I wrote to the company about this defect, I received ZERO response, despite writing to both companies featured on the box. So I would say based on that that their customer service is also terrible.

So if you're looking for something that is cool to look at and not so much to play with, these are for you. If you want something a child can actually play with without the whole thing falling apart in their hands, well, I wouldn't go for these. Or at least go in with eyes open.

Spider-Man Figure - Fine
Hulk Figure - No paint on the back of the pants
Captain America Figure - Mask doesn't come off, nearly impossible to line up with eyes. Shield doesn't fit in hands.
Wolverine Figure - Claws bent.

None of the figures can stand up very well on their own.
