It's close, but no cigar.
Like the war machine one, it's done well, is durable. Faceplate not hinged to slide but just pegs to position open or closed, and as others have mentioned there is some painting detail missing.

While it articulates pretty well, my son has a problem with the shoulder and hip movement, just can't quite get the arms to actually parallel the body.

Shoulder armor pieces come off regularly during play but are easy to put back in, just a ball that snaps into a slightly undersized hole to hold it in place.

Some reviewers mention that this is for collecting only, not really for play, but I actually look at it as the opposite. I think it's fine for play, the lack of detail to me would make it something I actually would NOT want for collecting.

Good size though for my 7 year old son, who enjoys it immensely.

This is another great figure from Marvel Select or Diamond Select toys whatever they are calling themselves nowdays...The figure sculpts are outstanding just like the Battlestar Galactica figures that came out earlier in the year. The face sculpts are pretty good for a figure of this size. My Iron Man figure really resembled Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.. The paint scheme was also very well done. Great metalic red and gold! My only gripe about this figure was the lack of painted eyes on the face mask? What happened? The War Machine figure didn't suffer from non painted eyes? Come on...where's the quallity control? Now you have to open the figure that was not meant to be opened in the first place in order to paint the eyes yourself....ARRGH!!!!! Would have been 5 stars had the eyes been painted. As for the other reveiew that stated the mask would not close. the head has two sets of peg holes, you need to fully remove the mask from the open position, very carefully and reinsert the mask into the lower set of holes to put the mask in the down position. very easy. Looks great, except for the non painted eyes!

There are a couple of things that should be mentioned: 1.) this is not a toy. It is a collectible action figure. 2.) the figure can be displayed with the faceplate closed. The faceplate is attached to the helmet by two pegs. It is a tight fit, but it can be removed. 3.) for some inexcusable reason, the manufacturer did not paint the eyes on the faceplate. So if you want the eyes in the "off" or "activated" mode, you got to paint them yourself. For the price you pay, you would expect the manufacturer to do it. Should you decide to take the challenge, I recommend Testors Model Master Acrylic Paints and a lot of patience.

Overall, I like the figure. The metallic paints (red & gold) make it really stand out compared to the 4" and 6" figures available (this particular one stands about 7" tall). It is solidly built, it is not a lightweight figure.
