This review is from: Marvel Super Special DUNE Official Marvel Comics Adaptation of the Spectacular New Film (Paperback)
This book looks great. Sienkewicz's minimalist, realistic artwork nails the likenesses of the actors of the 1984 Dune movie. And, let's face it: the cast is one of the film's great assets. So the art: top of the line.
The story is good. As long as it sticks to Herbert's story, how could it not be good? The problem is the length. There are not enough pages to tell this story! Everything is rushed, dialogue is reduced to exposition, and the mid-page planet-transitions are jarring. If the comic was about three times longer, it would have been great. Maybe someday, a great long-form Dune comic will be produced. |
