5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Comprehensive Guide
I've bought some Prima guides over the years, and sometimes feel like I was kinda ripped off. Not so with this one.

The walkthrough is appropriately comprehensive and detailed, as should be expected. The playing tips actually exceed my expectations, though. For example, the writeups on each hero don't simply rank their powers on how much damage they do or...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Guide--Bad Binding
I thought that this was a really great guide to beat the game and uncover literally every secret in the game. The maps were detailed and very helpful and the character descriptions were very helpful. DESPITE all the good that it did-for some reason, my copy had the worst binding of any book I have ever bought. I didn't trash the book at all, just through normal wear,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Comprehensive Guide, November 14, 2006
This review is from: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Signature Series Guide (Bradygames Signature Guides) (Paperback)
I've bought some Prima guides over the years, and sometimes feel like I was kinda ripped off. Not so with this one.

The walkthrough is appropriately comprehensive and detailed, as should be expected. The playing tips actually exceed my expectations, though. For example, the writeups on each hero don't simply rank their powers on how much damage they do or how efficient they are, but also on how simple or complicated they are to use! This is very useful, especially for older, clumsier gamers like me. If Power A is "by the numbers" better than Power B, but requires some complex button manipulation to execute properly in the heat of battle, it's not that good for me. Nice to see a book that recognizes this principle. It reads like the authors really played the game a lot, and aren't just regurgitating design documentation or something.

I'm about 3/5 through the game, and there don't seem to be any major changes to the game that make the guide book "outdated" by late code changes. I've run into a couple here and there, but they're all minor things, nothing that really seems to impact gameplay.

I thought that this was a really great guide to beat the game and uncover literally every secret in the game. The maps were detailed and very helpful and the character descriptions were very helpful. DESPITE all the good that it did-for some reason, my copy had the worst binding of any book I have ever bought. I didn't trash the book at all, just through normal wear, it lost its binding and is now broken up into 5 sections in between the covers. Way to go Brady for writing a great book but whoever put that together for you was a moron.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is filled with hidden items, choices that change the story and puzzles that take some serious thought. This guide will help you not only get through the game and save the Marvel Universe, but it will teach you a few little known facts about Marvel comics (which will also help you get some serious XP). I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to see and do everything this great game offers

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Guide, Bad Binding, January 24, 2008
This review is from: Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Signature Series Guide (Bradygames Signature Guides) (Paperback)
This is an excellent game guide book with everything you would need to 100% complete the game. I am disappointed that the pages began pulling away from the binding within a few days of light use. Now, whole sections of pages are falling out as if the binding dried out. I guess I am stuck with it!!

This is, as always from Bradygames, an excellent strategy guide. From trivia questions to cheat codes, this one has them all. The only thing not included? Which X-Man to kill at the end of Mephisto's Realm (and yes it does matter.) Hint: Don't kill the one who's known to come back from death.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great sidekick to have with this Game, March 9, 2007

As with all strategy guides by Brady Games, this book proved quite useful, especially in finding the collectibles and simulator discs.. the only thing I still don't know is how to get the fourth costume of Silver Surfer once he's unlocked cuz I don't have a simulator mission appear like Black Panther & Daredevil when they were unlocked. Anyway, great guide to a great game.

I didn't notice until I actually got into the meat of the guide, but there were some points that were written correctly, but the maps weren't. The objects weren't labelled correctly on the map, if at all. Also, would have been nice if they had included the Trivia Computer answers too. However, it was still a great guide to help you along. Everything but the maps were great.

With this book I was able to locate all the "extras" and find my way past those areas that would have been sure to get me lost. I like how it was not for any specific system. I highly reccommend it because I like hard games but I hate when I get stumped or the game loses the fun value because you aren't sure what to do. With this book however I beat the game on Normal (with the book) and then started my team again on hard without the book.
