2.0 out of 5 stars
three versions of the EXACT SAME TOY, December 13, 2009
= Durability:2.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Marvel Universe 3 3/4" Series 1 Action Figure Spider-Man (Toy)
I bought mine at a local wal-mart where he is STILL READILY AVAILABLE for a reasonable price of eight dollars (keeping in mind there's still about five bucks of shipping to be added on here.)
there are THREE versions of this figure: the daytime colored pattern of light blue and bright red which comes with semi clear
colored webline attatchment
the night time colored pattern which is black and a slightly darker shade of red which comes with a grey and black shade brushed webline attatchment
or the secret wars variant which is the same red as the nightshade spidey figure but with a medium grade shade of blue and no webline attatchment (comes with wrecking ball and badguy from the wrecking crew instead and ofcourse reprinted comic of the series.)
but be advised parents, these three figures are EXACTLY THE SAME FIGURE only with a slight change in paint color. there are actually quite a few figures in the new marvel line that are literally the same figure with a new paint job added on so be advised. it wouldnt be so bad if they came with new weapons or accessories like the clone wars clone troopers do but this is not the case.
there is no difference between daytime spider-man and night time spider-man aside from darkness of costume and there is really no difference between the spider-man packaged upside down (which is supposed to be a rarer version)and spider-man packaged right side up.
but with all that aside, let's look into the details of this figure:
figure boasts 19 points of articulation and is actually the best sculpt of the spider-man specific character of the series.
articulation points are as follows:
head (swivels on neck and can slightly move up and down)
shoulders (at two points allowing arms to move complete 360 degrees up and down as well as swivel arms left "outward" and right "inward")
chest (can move slightly forward or backward at ribcage)
hips.( can turn at waist full 360 degrees left to right.
thighs (can swivel forward "seated" downward "standing" and outward "kicking" but please note that due to the sculpting that you may need to swivel the leg forward first before outward to cut down on stress to the leg and thigh joint.
knees (double articulation allows character to pose in a crouch position as well as seated position)
ankles. this figures ankle articulation actually works effectively allowing for full range of motion options to ankles. (forward/backward and full 360 left to right roation)
elbows (bend forward and bakcward oddly enough)
wrists (can rotate full 360 left to right.)
left hand is sculpted into a fist and right hand is sculpted into what is a failed attempt of the webline shooting hand gesture
(which is index finger/ pinky finger and thumb outward while middle finger and ring finger are inward pressing against the palm
~think the sign language symbol for "I love you"~
the hand sign spidey appears to be making on this action figure however has his middle finger/ ring finger and thumb facing inward against palm and index finger/pinky finger outward
~think generic rocker metal sign language symbol for "hail satan!"
in short, both hands are inapable of holding weapons. webline clips onto forearm and is slightly "permabent" due to packaging
figure stands approx. @ 4.1/4" so is roughly taller than a gi joe figure but not by a heavily noticable degree.
I'm pretty sure your kids will have hours of fun with this figure but be advised you really only need to buy him ONCE.
