Product Description

Product Description

Each Marvel Legends 2012: Series 03 figure features multiple points of articulation, and is accompanied by character-specific weapons/accessories and one of the pieces required to assemble the Series 03 Build-A-Figure. Iron Man (Neo-Classic) is clad in bulky gold and red armor. The Iron Man armor is constructed as a housing for the transistorized chest plate used to save the mortally wounded Tony Stark. Modified numerous times even prior to Iron Manâ?TMs association with the Avengers, the original Iron Man Armor utilizes transistor and magnetic repulsor technology which provides Stark with flight capability, heightened strength and durability, and a variety of onboard weapons. The immensely durable Neo-Classic armor resists virtually any form of damage, however the chassis itself is cumbersome. The armor is armed with a strengthened version of the Repulsor, along with Vibration Beams and Vario-Chestbeams.

From the Manufacturer

Kick-start some epic comic action with this awesome Iron Man figure. This powerful armored hero figure is seriously detailed to look like the powerful Iron Man hero of Marvel’s comic battles. Excellent articulation and a nice representation of Bob Layton's greatest Iron Man armor.

This has to be one of the worst Ironman sculpts ever.

I have all the Marvel Legends Iron Man figures. Even some I now wonder why I bought (looking at you, House of M Iron Man). I have been waiting for many, many years for the Neo Classic armor to be made and Hasbro finally delivered. Excellent articulation and a nice representation of Bob Layton's greatest Iron Man armor. Is it a little small? Yes. But unless you are a scale perfectionist, you're probably not going to notice. Now if they'd just get around to a proper Space and Hydro armor, my armory would be complete.
Well, at least until the Iron Man 3 figures hit the shelves . . .
If you like Iron Man and the Marvel Legends scale, there's no reason not to get this figure. I'd give it 5 stars, but the underscaling dings it a star.

Think this is the Mark IX armor; not one of my favs, but here Hasbro did a great job. The red/gold paint job is vibrant and near-metallic. Not the perfect gleam I'd like to see, but of all the IM figures to date, this comes the closest. Head tilt is almost nil, but it does have 360 rotation. Shoulder rotation is somewhat impeded by the armor's pauldrons. The arms rotate 360 from the shoulder joint, the elbows and wrists have full movement. There is also 90 degree wrist tilt (evident on right open hand, and left fist).

Standard "ab crunch", about 45 degrees, full waist rotation. The legs move about 15 degrees forward (up) and back, but are on a hinge that allows approx. 90 degree lateral movement. Knees are double jointed, ankles have minimal movement due to the bulky "space" boots. The boot soles have a defined tread. To me the clunky boots and gauntlets give him that overall man-in-suit-of-armor look.

The one major flaw of this figure is that its TOO SMALL, especially in scale to the other figures in this line. Thankfully, Iron Man's arms are not as spindly as they are on the Extremis armor, which is good. However he should be at least taller than, say, the Madame Hydra figure. Despite this, its an fantastic figure, and a must have for the die-hard Iron Man fan.

oh Hasbro....I still remember how dissapointed I was back in 2006 to hear that Hasbro was getting the Marvel license and toybiz would no longer be producing the most LEGENDARY action figure line of all time...and this figure does nothing but unearth those felings of dissapointment.

Hasbro keeps on trying and trying to make a good Iron Man figure but they just cant get it right...well, I should be more clear, they just CAN'T GET THE SCALE RIGHT! at all! its horrible, makes me wonder if the Hasbro design team has rulers in their offices...this figure is grossly underscaled, Iron man should be a bit taller than all the human characters because duh -he's a dude in a thick ARMORED suit..

this might be the smallest Iron Man figure ever made and they try to pass it off as a 6" figure...total dissapointment, total recession fail..smaller than bucky cap, smaller than peanut headed silver savage, smaller than all who stand next to him..oh yeha, he's even smaller than the Extrmeis Iron Man, i didnt think it would ever get that small in the first place

clearly there is a reason this figure is cheaper than all the others in the wave, clearly there is a reason he's the only one left hanging on the target store peg...its because he's small and none of us 6" collectors want to keep microsizing our armories.....

maybe next time Hasbro, maybe next time........

The Classic II Iron Man armor from the comics (originally designed by Bob Layton, this is actually John Romita, Jr's take on it with the huge, cannister-looking boot jets) finally comes to the Marvel Legends line, and for the most part, I like it. The sculpt isn't bad, and actually looks like the comic armor (all-too-often not the case) and the paint job is decent, if not spectacular (no terrible splotches like the old Thorbuster Armor ML figure). The only gripe that I have with the figure is the size...it's just too small, especially in comparison with other figures in the same series. The thing that I've always loved about the Marvel Legends line is that they're all (supposed to be) made to the same scale. Hasbro has had issues with that since taking over the line and it's never been more noticeable than with this figure. Iron Man should not be the runt of the litter...ever.

Size/scale issues aside, I can't help but like the figure. I would have preferred Layton's original take over JRJR's, but considering that I like the look of it and don't have any other option, I'll take this.

bought this for my three year old who loves Iron Man, head, hands and shoulder pads pop off super easy. They go right back on, but still . . . frustrating for the kiddo.

This toy is the greatest looking Iron Man toy I've ever seen. Everything about it is classic and perfect. I have it next to me at all times and pose it while waiting on my video renders. It has awesome action poses and everything is just awesome about it.

Onto some small things about it:
- Wouldn't last in a kids hands. I know when I was a kid, I through my spiderman toys around the house but this figure won't fall apart after the 5th chuck.
- The wrists, head, hands, feet and ankles come off with some force but pop back on. Not a problem, but again, kids will lose them.
- The feet don't rest on the plate very easily, but the plate doesn't really matter much. The figure has cool big feet and stands on it's own.
The color in the picture is a bit off in a bad way. It seems like the head doesn't match the rest of the yellow tint, but in person, it makes sense.
- One more time, not a kids toy if your kids like to smash stuff everywhere, but for kids that like to pose and fight with other figures, it will do great!

Awesome figure overall, just be mindful for kids.
