5.0 out of 5 stars Best Fighting Game Ever

3.0 out of 5 stars Is anyone reading this?
First sentence: the arcade version is better.
Second sentence: Dreamcast arcade sticks aren't for sale at stores anymore.
Ending sentence: don't buy this unless you have an arcade stick.
P.S.
Nope, you can't use the joystick of your Dreamcast controller.

This game is hours of fun to play. While playing the computer is endless amounts of fun, playing other players is amazing. To the novice player, it may seem that the game is based completely on screen filling super fire balls or attacks that are "cheap." The real fun of the game, however, is it takes a little bit of skill and a little bit of practice. If you could beat anyone at SF2 just using a combination of fireballs and uppercuts, you are out of luck. This game requires that the player blocks, uses his super moves and characters strategically, and takes full advantage of combos. Only weak players who get frustrated at a game they don't understand will find this game boring.

This game is extremely fun, the best aspect of this game is the Four player crossover mode, capcom did an outstanding job translating this game over onto the Dreamcast. If they would have made this game into a 3D fighting game they would have just screw'd up the whole game, and for all the people that say that it is impossible to play on a standard pad, dont listen to them..I have no problem using that pad, and neither do any of my friends..soo right now, for the money, that game is worth it..

4.0 out of 5 stars You can use ONSLAUGHT as a selectable character, July 25, 2003

There are secret ways to unlock alternate versions of some of the characters, and even unlock Onslaught. You'll have to beat the game using certain techniques. In order to beat the game very easily, I personally found it best to use Ryu and Venom on Easy mode. Use them to beat the game multiple times and you'll be able to unlock all of the secret characters.

PROS:
1) The vibration feedback is extremely sensitive !!! You feel every bump and hit that you give your opponent.
2) There is an Easy mode, which strangely is not in MvC part 2. The Easy mode allows you to use Chun Li's lighting fast kicks.
3) There are a few super moves that are not in MvC part 2. Like Chun Li's has four supers in this game, while she has only three in part 2.

CONS:
1) There is a little slow-down with a few characters like War Machine and Strider. These characters move a lot faster in MvC part 2.
2) You can not select the same person twice. In MvC part 2, you are allowed to select the same person so you may have a team of three Akumas or whomever else.

Overall, it's a great game, and I urge you to buy it even if you already own MvC part 2. I own both games and love them equally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not really made for Dreamcast, December 13, 1999

Marvel Vs. Capcom is a great game it's just not really made for Dreamcast, first of all the controler is not suited for playing Capcom fighters, with the exception of Power Stone, so ight want to get an arcade stick for this one, the game is real fast and the lots and lots of coler exposions, and if you've play the arcade game you know what I'm talking about. As for the display, well... Capcom sould have spent alittle more time on the coversion because 2D does not look good in high-resilution, the charaters look all bocky and the colers are not as bright and vibrant ass the arcade version, The game is still as fun and popping your friends up into the are for a devastating air-combo and pulling off super moves are still as satisfying as the acrade.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST 2-D Game there Is!, November 8, 1999

Wow! I mean, wow! This game is the best there is in 2-D fighting games. Sure the graphics aren't 3-D and all flashy and nice looking, but Capcom totally makes up for that! The ludicrous speed and the sprite heaven is just too much for any other system to handle. The game is totally flaw-less in terms of smoothless and gameplay. BUT! and listen cause this is a big BUT. But, if you buy this game you MUST, I say MUST, buy the arcade stick. Well, then again I'm a Capcom and 2-D thriller fan so Soul Caliber lovers won't be too excited about this... Oh well! And guess what? It has all the arcade features packed in it, with a few suprises! One down side: You cannot perform Jin's Saotome Fire. (a move when he taunts and he catches on fire) But thats only a minor flaw. Overall: I love it. Plain and simple. I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing fighting game!, January 21, 2002
This review is from: Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (Video Game)
This is an amazing fighting game, you can pick from 15 characters which include (IN ORDER)
Chun Li - Ryu - Zangief
Morrigan - Captain Commando - Mega Man
Strider Hiryu - Spiderman - Jin
Captain America - Venom - Hulk
Gambit - War Machine - Wolverine
The fighting is awsome when you connect on a hyper combo, you can go from 10 hits to 30 and beyond! If you are very good you might be able to connect on a good aerial combo. Sure this ain't no Marvel VS Capcom 2 but this is still a great game. The last boss is Onslaught which I find to be pretty hard and frustrating at times, the modes in this game are
*Arcade
*Versus
*Survival
*Training
*Cross Fever
In this game Ryu can transform into either Ken or Akuma, pretty neat, and all with moves of their own! Charecters with some of the stronget specials would be in my opinion
Zangief,War Machine, Ryu(Akuma) and Jin. But the best player to use for combos would have to be Strider, if you know how to use him he could possibly be the deadliest character in the game. Heres a little secret, once you have beaten the comp or your friend when right after it says KO and the stats appear press START and then you will be able to move around and attack your opponents dead body. But I seriously think you should see your doctor first before playing this because the flashes in this game are extreme, the specials make the screen flash in many different ways that can make one have a seizure or get dizzy. But this game is a milestone in fighting game history!

This game is good, from the very begging to the very end. I love all of the hand drawn artwork. But sometimes the sound goes very light (I.E. You can barrly hear it). But that is about the only thing I can find wrong with this game. The music is cool. The supers rock. The characters rule. This game is very fun. It's the best of the three Tag-Team Capcom games so far. Hopefully, Capcom's next Tag-Team game will be even better.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great, fun game, December 27, 1999

I have never been a big fan of fighting games, and Ive never been a big fan of marvel and capcoms "vs" games. But when i saw this game a few months ago at the video store I thought to myself it looks cool enough, and I was already on a kick form Soul Calibur being so awsome, I said to myself Ill rent it. Well my friend and I started playin it and we had a blast, the game is so much fun to play. The characters a big and colurful, and the backrounds with many things going on in them were too. The controls were very easy to pick up and start doing all the big combos, even my little sister could do it and she always has problems with stuff like that. There is no slowdown in the game and it moves at a very fast pace. The characters are also cool and represent there characters from whatever series or game as well. Also on top of all this you get one kickin 4 player mode, well i havent tried it out yet but I really really want too. So when i found this little title under my tree this christmas i was very very happy. If you are trying to get someone a gift or shopping for yourself, I recomend picking this title up, its easy to get into fun. This is one of the games that proves dreamcast is a great system for games.

How can i start by saying how great this game is! One word describes it all: DREAMCAST! Great graphics, perfect sprites and perfect frame rate. Also the gaem play is perfect as are all SF games, it keeps drawing you back. The only thing i think this lacks is that there aren't seperate stories for the characters.
