Product Description

This is the new, improved version of an old favorite. Now made of ALUMINUM, painted yellow. CAN'T RUST! Will NOT work on ANY Rubbermaid, Step 2 or on ANY other style of mailbox. Will ONLY work on the standard "bread loaf" shape of mailbox where the door fits OVER the body of the mailbox. MUST BE a Bacova, Colony Metalsmiths, Fulton, Solar Group or Steel City brand of STEEL ordinary metal mailbox. Look on the back door of the mailbox to find the brand you have. Leaves Wisconsin usually within 48 hours via US Mail.

Customer Reviews

Mail alerts are very handy and saves many unnecessary walks to the mailbox.

I bought it as a replacement because the one I had just wore out after 15 years so it has a great life span for its cost.
Seth Hastings
It is a really good invention as I had tried others that cannot compare to this one that works every time.

Another reviewer stated that due to the aluminum construction the tab breaks off within 6 months. They must have a disgruntled postal worker or something because the one that was purchased for my grandma around 1986 is still working pretty good.

The only problem it has had was the spring lost its tension and needed to be replaced last year. Now that I live in a house where my mailbox is located ouy by the road I'll be getting one too.

The aluminum tip has finally cracked so it is time to replace this one. Lasting over 18 years comes to a cost of less than a dollar a year; that seems to be o.k.; though the last one was a lot cheaper. I hope that the makers have not lessened the quality of the product, but it has definitely lasted way over six months. The aluminum tip does have to be periodically adjusted to keep it working properly, however, one needs to be gentle in handling it.

Our mail delivery time is very erratic on a daily basis so this product saves a lot of extra trips to the mailbox. It is truly more practical than the new electronic alerters. Most of our nearby neighbors seem to depend on it also.

A friend gave me one of these which worked fine until a piece of it wore out.
Amazon led me to a new one which has a better design which will not wear out.
It is one of the handiest items I have ever purchased.

I have been using this product for about 12 years. I just ordered my 5th alert. the problem with the design is the small tab breaks off too easy. Also, if the company changed the spring to a stainless steel spring, the flag would last alot longer.

I HAD ONE OF THESE MAIL ALERTS FOR ABOUT TEN YEARS AND FROM DAY ONE INSTALLATION I THOUGHT THAT IT WAS THE BEST STEP SAVER I HAD EVER SEEN. MY MAILBOX IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD AND IT WAS TOTALLY INCONVENIENT TO KEEP CROSSING THE ROAD AND FIND THAT THE MAIL HADN'T ARRIVED YET. THEN ABOUT FIVE YEARS AGO MY NINETY YEAR OLD FATHER IN-LAW MOVED IN WITH US. HE LIKED TO GO AND GET THE MAIL. IT IS GREAT TO KNOW THAT WHEN HE CROSSES THE ROAD THAT THE MAIL IS IN THE BOX. THE REASON THAT I HAD TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE IS BECAUSE THE TAG THAT HOLDS THE FLAG DOWN BROKE OFF. I FEEL THAT IT LASTED A LONG TIME AND WAS HAPPY TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ITEM TO ANYONE LOOKING TO SAVE STEPS.

This is the best 15 bucks I've ever spent! My neighbor loves it as well, he hated walking out to the box for nothing as much as I did. He watches for the yellow pop-up on my box to know if his mail has come next door.
A simple invention but such a luxury to have as my mail never seems to come at the same time as the day before, now I know as soon as it has arrived. Worth every dime I paid, I just didn't know to search for them before, it popped up when I ordered the mail boxes. It's about the first time I appreciated a pop-up window.

We've had one of these for at least 12 years on our mail box and it finally needed welding...so we searched Amazon, thinking we'd not be so lucky in finding another one...but there it was! A great product and pretty easily seen from 200 feet.

Update....the latch that connects with the closed door is weak and breaks ... seem to be made of lesser strength than in the past. We ordered two, so after replacing the first, we'll see how long this one lasts.

I've owned this one since 2011- It works & looks great. With a 230+ foot driveway, it saves LOTs of footwork. I got great support with my install questions.

In the AZ sun, the nylon hold down ties last about 3 months. AT HomeDepot or ACE, I can't pay more than 5 cents apiece. I keep several inside, along with some old nail clippers, so replacements take about 30 seconds. I give very few "5" star ratings. This little gem deserves it.
