The mind-blowing saga that began in MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS continues in ABC's action-packed series, MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON. But every answer unearths even more tantalizing questions that reverberate across the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe: Who is "The Clairvoyant"? 5.0 out of 5 stars This Marvel fan is loving this show April 6, 2014

Most people have been complaining about the series dragging, but then again, they've been expecting mini-movies and not a SERIES. Joss Whedon's direction and this fabulous casts' acting showcase a story with surprising twists, all sorts of odd and unexpected connections between the characters and an over-arcing story that leaves you wondering what's going to happen next. As a writer myself, I have to applaud Whedon and the writers on this show for their ability to leave you wondering "what the hell did I just see?" almost every other episode. The actors are gelling into a fine ensemble, and Clark Gregg leads them through a maze of plot complications all tied into the movies that are part of the universe as well., Fine job, folks, fine job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome! April 22, 2014

Love how Marvel has married all the plot lines together with Ironman, Thor and Captain America. I as a child used to read all of them every chance I could. I love agents of shield, so many plot twists it makes your head spin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Its all connected May 31, 2014
Format:DVD
First three quarters were good. But when the nuclear bomb that was Captain America The Winter Soldier hit... The show itself went nuclear.

If you choose to read this, know that you must watch until the ultimate turning point of the show. The End of the Beginning episode. (Thanks for the note of my mixing up of the episode title)

When you get to that point, watch the movie, then continue watching the series. It makes sense if you do that.

It is worth it. Trust me.

The show's first season was very inconsistent quality-wise. The pilot does a good job of introducing the audience to the world of the show, but after that the show struggles to find it's footing. The episodes are typically case of the week episodes up until about episode 16, though I believe that episodes 11 and 12 are a two part TAHITI arc, that explain how Coulson is alive. After that, things get a little more serialized, and it is highly recommended that the viewer watches Captain America: The Winter Soldier, before watching "Turn, Turn, Turn". The first 14 episodes are really hit or miss, with more misses than hits, but episode 15 (the one with the "disappearing" train) signals a strong change in quality. It is recommended that you don't skip any episodes in the first two-thirds of the season because they introduce things that are used later on in the season.

Dialogue is a little too quippy at times, and undercuts how serious some situations are. It also feels interchangeable at times, and sometimes comes off as out of character. The characters are hard to get attached too at first but by the end of the season, you'll find yourself rooting for them.

Overall, the first season is okay, and after a bumpy start, the show begins to show promise. If you're a diehard fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you should look into this show as decent supplement to the films.

This was a series that came with a lot of potential, a lot of expectations, and a lot of anxiety; most of it derived from Joss Whedon's involvement and the fact that it exists in the same continuity as the Marvel films -- a multi-billion-dollar franchise including The Avengers, Iron Man 1,2 & 3, Capt. America: The First Avenger & The Winter Soldier, Thor (the crappy original) & Thor 2 (which was quite good), and of course, The Incredible Hulk films (which have been far from incredible, a frustration for fans and film-makers; even talented people like Ang Lee, Edward Norton & Eric Bana couldn't make it work, although Mark Ruffalo's Hulk worked perfectly as one star in The Avengers' constellation).

Then there are the other corners of the Marvel Universe not directly tied to The Avengers, most notably the brilliant reboot of the X-Men with First Class & Days of Future Past, as well as Bryan Singer's original X-Men trilogy and the respectable Wolverine films; but no one could forget the character and the movies that got things going for Marvel fims, the Sam Raimi/Toby Maguire Spiderman Trilogy (Critical and Box-Office over-achievers), followed by the unnecessary, unasked for, and unsatisfying remakes; then we're left with the Fantastic Four movies (ugh...) and fringe-dwellers like Blade (the first was decent, but Guillermo del Toro's sequel was excellent. As for the third...).

Cliffhanger
It ends with major cliffhangers that seem important for season two. It has been confirming that a season two will be made. The cliffhangers would most likely be explain throughout the next season.

How. Come marvel agents of shield season 1 cost so much
I agree with you. As much as I love this show and really wanted to add it to my collection, I am not paying over $70 for one season of a television show. Like Hall & Oates sang, "I can't go for that. No can do".
