Almost great...,
This review is from: Marware Eco-Vue for iPad (Personal Computers)
I received one of these cases not long after it was first released. I was pleased with the overall looks and function, but after using it for almost two months now, I'm starting to have issues. I noticed a number of threads fraying near the edges of the lining after a few weeks, and clipped them off with scissors. More recently one of the corners has started falling apart, and the soft lining is separating from the plastic underneath. Also, the strap that holds the iPad in the case is starting to lose its rigidity, resulting in an insecure fasten. At this point it won't be long before the iPad can slip out completely. This would be a great case if it were better made, but as it is I'm disappointed. I'll be looking for a replacement soon.

I received this case a few days ago. It's very sturdy and has convenient features; I'm quite clumsy at times, and the hand strap in the back has made it very easy to hold with confidence. The leather is very nice and definitely not cheap looking, while the microfiber interior makes it very comfortable to hold. The edges also appear to be slightly reinforced, and would likely protect the iPad from the occasional fall (of course, I'm not about to test that theory!).
A note on magnets: I use this with the iPad WiFi + 3G. Another reviewer mentioned problems with the magnet inside, which is used to hold the integrated stand, and recommended that this case be used only with the WiFi version of the iPad. First, a clarification: both iPads have a built-in compass, so if using the compass is extremely important to you, don't buy this case. While the magnet does interfere with the magnetometer, it does NOT interfere with the AGPS, data transmission, or cause damage to the iPad or any of its components. The iPad uses flash memory, not a traditional magnetic hard drive, so your data will be perfectly safe.

I have had the Eco-View since about when the ipad launched. The case looks and feels wonderful. Unfortunately, it starts to fall apart very fast, it loosens up in the top latch that holds the ipad in if for whatever reason you decided to hold it upside down it will fall out.
The leather is trimmed with a plastic lining that after time begins to separate, so I just cut the lining with a scissor where ever it separates. This case is not intended to offer much protection should the ipad fall to the ground as there are slightly exposed corners. In fairness I do use my ipad every single day so it does get alot use, however I expected the case to last much longer than a couple of months before falling apart.

Here is a short review of the product. I chose to review it after it had been used a while in order to get the quality aspect of the product to people. So check it out. Hope it sways a decision or two.

Excellent Case -- But Check That it's the Updated Model!,

I highly recommend this cover (however, see my note below).
After checking out several different iPad cases, I purchased this one from my local Apple store. I was looking for a case that was simple, but which provided protection for the iPad. I also wanted it to have the feel of a book cover since I use my iPad mainly as a reading device. Originally, I bought the Apple case; it was OK, but seemed a little thin. This one from Marware had what I was looking for. After using this case for a little while, I can confirm that it's made well, is nice to hold, and has a minimal design so there is not too much extra stuff around the iPad -- just enough to do what's necessary. Even the company name is tastefully placed in a subtle fashion on the cover. The stitching seems tight. I like that it has a holder inside, which I use to tuck in a screen-cleaning cloth. The elastic band closure is simple and holds the case closed very well, and it stays out of the way when not in use. The cost is in line with all the other cases out there. IMPORTANT NOTE: The company appears to have updated this item some time in the recent past. The first one I purchased had a flap of stiff material above the docking port making it nearly impossible to insert the dock connector. I returned it to the store the same day. The sales associate and I looked at another one (apparently an updated model). Right away, we could see it had more clearance allowing the dock connector to insert easily. We also noticed that the newer model had a wider strap to hold the iPad in place. If you're purchasing this case, check that it's the updated model with the wider strap and more open area for the dock connector.

This very nice looking iPad cover is, unfortunately, not very functional. I'm returning mine.
It holds the iPad very securely and the quality of the leather is nice, but it advertises that the "Folio cover allows the iPad to stand while in use," although in my experience this isn't true. On the box it shows the iPad in landscape mode sitting upright while the folio cover is folded back to form a tent-like structure. Perhaps if your surface is non-slip and your touch is light, it may stay in this position for a while, but I had no luck with it. I'm sure that there are other, more functional covers available. And separate stands.

I purchased this item many weeks ago and have actually started to carry my ipad to meetings with me now because it looks much more professional. Everyone that sees it asks where I got it at and when I tell them they immediately go out and order one for themselves.
The case is outstanding, it is designed to use the ipad in landscape mode, you can type on it, watch movies, etc using the built in stand and it puts it at just the right angle. The construction is strong, doesn't feel like a cheap case like others I have purchased. This one is by far my favorite. There is one flaw however. The tongue that slips in the top behind the ipad to secure it can get a little lose. The iPad won't fall out but you may have to push it back down every now and then. To resolve this just go to any hardware type store and by some Velcro, attach one piece to the tongue flap and one to the ipad case and when the ipad is in you secure the tongue via Velcro instead of just pressure. This may sound like the Velcro is visible, it is NOT visible at all once the ipad is in the case. I'll submit a customer photo to show what it looks like to help clarify. But other then this one minor issue this case has been perfect and everyone that sees me using it asks where I got it from. Highly recommended.

Beware! It frays at the corners and flap doesn't work,
This review is from: Marware Eco-Vue for iPad (Personal Computers)
I purchased two of these cases about two months ago from the Marware web site. My wife and I really like these cases, but both are fraying at the corners, exposing the underlaying plastic. Also, the flap that secures the iPad in place no longer works, so our iPads just slide out of our cases. I just opened a trouble ticket on the Marware web site, so I'm waiting to see how they will address this issue.

I loved this case from the moment I opened the package. Two months later it's falling apart...avoid until their workmanship improves.

I like this case more than the offical one from Apple. It is easier to clean since it is leather, it has more space to add a pen and some papers, it offers more protection. The only draw back is it makes the ipad a littile bit heavier. I have both this one and the apple one and i like this one more. It is cheaper too :)
In addition, the seller was great, 5 stars. |
