However, worse things than this had happened; and the country is not chary of its living, though apt to be scared of its dead; and so the ford came into use again, with a little attempt at improvement.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The publisher of this book did all of us a great favor .... a beautifully written story, requiring care and quiet to appreciate ... and providing a detailed glimpse into the past of Yorkshire. For us, it was the first time that family legends came to life and explained many things from the past. Googling family names and bits of history and coming up with Mary Anerley as the place to start was wonderful. Amazon was the catalyst for this whole process .... it is a cultural teasure and provider of answers for many things ... from today's consumer needs to history .. far more than a provider of books. Those involved in the chain between Mary Anerley's Yorkshire and today's reader have done a great job ... but the process and the deliverable was impeccably handled by all connected with Amazon. Outstanding service in both US and UK. Look for The Tale of Robin Lythe - a brilliant summary of one of the characters in Mary Anerley. Thank you all for what you do so well.
