I loved this book! The portrayal of how difficult it is for a girl to be without a mother is real. Mary Anne's dad also STILL makes her wear childish clothing & wear her hair in braids. Her dad means well, but doesn't always understand her & Mary Anne desperately needs a mother in her life. She gets into a HUGE fight with her friends that leaves her in tears, then meets Dawn & her mom, Sharon. You might say it was the beginning of the crazy Schafer-Spier family then, especially when Dawn & Mary Anne discover that their parents dated in high school. But, too bad Sharon & Richard's parents didn't like each other & separated them. So...there's a new twist...will Mary Anne & Dawn be able to re-unite them? But the best scene is when Mary Anne is baby-sitting little Jenny & Jenny runs a high fever & Mary Anne stays calm & acts responsibly. I like how even though she's sensitive & cries easily, she's doesn't panic or fall apart in an emergency. Here you begin to see that she is one courageous girl & her dad begins to see it, too & realize that she doesn't need to be "protected" all the time. Mary Anne is one person to be proud of!

I'm 28 years old, and I recently moved. While cleaning out my house to pack for the move, I ran across a box of Babysitters Club books that I read when I was younger. I had forgotten about those since I hadn't read them in many years. I was 13 when my dad bought Mary Anne Saves the Day for me at the local grocery store. He said I could get a book and that one caught my eye. I read it when I got home, and I was hooked. Since then, I bought books 1-3, and then each book after that every month when it came out. I was 18 when I stopped reading them. I felt I had outgrown them. When I recently found those books, I reread them all, starting with Mary Anne Saves the Day. It brought back a lot of memories, and I am now collecting them all again for my own daughter, if I ever have one.

Mary Anne Saves the Day is about a shy 12 year old girl who lives with her single father, who is very strict when it comes to raising her. She belongs to a great group of friends who run a business called The Babysitters Club. During one of her jobs, a little girl grows ill while in her care, and Mary Anne must use quick thinking to get the child to the hospital.

These are wonderful books for children. It's a shame Ann M. Martin is no longer writing them, but they will be always cherished

This book is one of the best in the series, in my opinon. The BSC gets into a huge fight. Unlike another reader (who called the BSC the BBC, what's with that?) I think this book is NOT predictable. It looks like Mary Anne and Claudia are going to stay friends but NOPE!Buy this book!

I remember first reading Mary Anne Saves the Day when I was about 10 or 11 years old. It was the first Baby-Sitters Club book that I had ever read and once I was finished, I was hooked. Over the next couple of months I remember getting a few other BSC books which I still have today. I am now 28, but recently found my copy of Mary Anne Saves the Day (along with a few others) and decided to read it. It brought back a lot of memories! I had always loved Mary Anne, mainly because her personality is a lot like mine. The only things that differ are my parents are (thankfully) both alive and they never made me dress a certain way.

In this particular book, the BSC gets into a fight that starts because Kristy takes a babysitting job without asking who else was free to babysit on that particular day (the client is a favorite of all 4 girls). That starts a series of events that almost break up the club; no one will talk to each other and they cannot even have their meetings together for a period of time. While they are in their fight, Mary Anne befriends a girl who just moved to Stonybrook: Dawn. Where, one wonders does Mary Anne saving the day come into play? She is babysitting for a new client and the little girl spikes a rather high fever and Mary Anne calls 911. She proves to her overprotective father that she is very responsible and he finally allows her to wear her hair differently (she has always had to wear it in braids). Plus, there is a connection between Mary Anne's father and Dawn's recently divorced mother.

This *wonderful* series of books is truly inspirational and they really draw you in. Sure you can tell they were written in the mid 80s through the 90s, but in the end, that really plays only a very small part. The books are timeless and someday when I have a daughter, I hope to give the books I have to her and hope she loves them as much as I did.

Mary Anne is babysitting little Jenny,the pampered Prezzioso kid,when Jenny shows signs of being very ill!
Also,every single member of the BSC are mad at eachother.Their unpleasant fighting made me cringe.

Mary Anne has always been one of my very favorite character. This book has a great beginning, middle and end.
Mary Anne has always want to be the leader. She had fought a little but got ruined by her friends saying mean things. it was sad when they had a fight, but it really let you want to read more.
When they had a fight, it really let you taste each character's personality. All of them are quite strong, but the strongness are different. That's what I like about this book. Every character are different but sometimes same. The book discribed it well enough to let you understand.
I like the ending. I wonder was this book based on someone! (Especially that Jenny P, the spoilled kid.)I can't help laughing when Mary Anne cries!
The only way you are going to know the personality of each character and the trouble they each bring (or pleasure) is to READ THE BOOK!

Mary Anne has always been one of my favorite BSC members. This book of her was very good. In the beginning Mary Anne has a regular BSC meeting with her friends, but because of something Kristy did... there comes a HUGE fight between the members of The Baby-Sitters Club. In fact the whole book is about it, but here is too about Mary Anne and her father. Mary Anne's mother died when she was a baby and her father is trying to prove that he can raise a great child without mother. But Mary Anne has to keep her hair in pigtails and her father buys her clothes. And what about Mary Anne's room... I learnt a lot from this book and I think you should read this.

This book is wonderful! Very catching ! but it does show alot of fighting in the babbysitters club so think twice if you wanna buy it !

The book arrived in a timely manner, especially during the Christmas buying season, in excellent condition at a great price! I am very happy with my purchase!

I didn't read the books in order because I 'got into them' when there were already like I don't know, fifty books. I had been wanting to read this for a while but it always seemed to be out at the library or whatever. When I finally got the chance to read it, I wasn't disappointed. Mary Anne has been treated like such a little girl for so long, but in this book she shows how mature she can be and wins some respect from her dad. Loved this book!
