This is a fantastic cook book. There are photos of each recipe, as well as at the beginning of each section, the recipes are sorted by time taken to prepare, with a picture and brief description of the recipe. Even at the beginning of the book, there are recipes grouped by idea. It is so easy to find something to cook plus you know how long this will take and what the finished product is supposed to look like. My husband and I have cooked the prawn gumbo, chicken pot pie, brownies, gingerbread and so many other recipes from this book. Everything has turned out to be absolutely brilliant. Nothing has ever disappointed.

My favorite niece who lived in England for several years sent me a copy of Berry's Complete Cookbook after I had admired it while staying with her in California in 2008. It is a very attractive tome, excellent photography, superior organization and puts to flight any lingering notion that the Brits cuisine is overcooked and bland. Berry offers tempting British, continental, American and oriental selections ranging from starters, soups, main courses red and white meats, fowl, fish and seafood, vegeterian, and concludes with desserts - puds, baked and other sweets.

Preceding each catagory is a summary of each dish, photographed and page location. Accompanying her recipes are frequent tips on alternatives to reduce calories and a good assortment of sauces. Instructions on how to bake were most useful for a beginner like me as are her suggestions for kitchen tools and other basic cooking instructions. I have just bought one for my daughter-in-law, who is a good cook, and will, I trust, enjoy an excellent cookbook.
