5.0 out of 5 stars a perennial
I bought this movie a month ago and have watched it four times already! It stands up to it. This is a rare find. The story has a touch of Santa-magic about it, but is not ridiculously unreal. 1.0 out of 5 stars Bad for adoptive families
I watched this with my 6-year old daughter who is adopted. She has always known she is adopted. After watching this, she questioned:
1. Why did they lie to their daughter about being adopted? Is being adopted bad?
2. Is the lady who gave birth to me hoping that she will get to be my mommy again?

I bought this movie a month ago and have watched it four times already! It stands up to it. This is a rare find. The story has a touch of Santa-magic about it, but is not ridiculously unreal. And the underlying story--about a child who wants a mommy for Christmas--is compelling and heartwarming. The remarkable thing is that this is done so well. None of the hostility and bad casting that add a sour note to other Christmas movies. Also, if the mother-daughter story is especially poignant for you, read the novel A Thanksgiving Miracle). This movie will renew your faith in just about everything and give you a positive outlook to face another day.

4.0 out of 5 stars a lovely little christmas film, September 15, 2004

This review is from: Mary Christmas (DVD)
as a lover of all things christmas, this dvd caught my eye at the rental store where i work. i was surprised how much i enjoyed the story, especially the acting of young jenna boyd and tom bosley.

this is a sweet film and looks especially good for 'made for tv.'

i also enjoyed the commentary by director john schneider... it was mostly technical but i found hearing about his tricks to work under time constraints and a small budget interesting. he mentions his feeling that we need more family friendly movies... and i wholeheartedly agree. i'll take a little syrupy sweetness that uplifts over something that brings my spirit down any day.

i'll be adding this to my christmas film collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A true family Christmas movie!, November 29, 2005
This review is from: Mary Christmas (DVD)
My family just watched this movie and love, love, love it! As a family Christmas movie collector, I am thrilled to be able to add this one to my collection...it's such a heartwarming story. I was completely surprised by the wonderful twist at the end. If you love the Hallmark Hall of Fame, Lifetime or Family Channel type of family Christmas movies like we do, then this is a must see for you!
NOTE TO HOLLYWOOD: Please continue making lots more of the family friendly movies that are free of sex, senseless violence and offensive language!!! The Boggs family thanks you!!!

My grandmother and I actually saw this movie on TV. One night we were just flipping through channals and we saw this and we figured we might as well watch it because Christmas movies usually are good. Well it turns out it was great! The movie has a great story line and you'll just love the end of the story...talk about irony lol well anyway this movie is a must have!

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this movie!, January 4, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mary Christmas (DVD)
This movie is really about a mother and daughter that find each other after many years and I think that's really beautiful. A lonely little girl wishes for a mother, and a woman who has been seperated from her daughter for nine years wants to find her again. And they do. For Christmas, she gets a mother and they both find each other in the end. A beautiful and warm story about mother/daughter realionships. I liked that about this movie.

Great family viewing, worth the price to see. We watch it annually at Christmas. All the characters featured are very good. Lighthearted, but worth while.

What a touching story...A woman gives a baby up for adoption and years later is sent to interview the family that adopted her for a Christmas story she's doing for the news station she works for. I loved the moment when she found out it was her daughter.
