5.0 out of 5 stars Great album to listen to together!
My five-year-old daughter and I really love this CD. The covers are great "versions" of the originals, and the original tracks are great additions to the overall feel of this CD. Maroon 5's "Pure Imagination" is fantastic, as is The Dixie Chick's "The Rainbow Connection." It's a great CD to listen to together and it doesn't drive you crazy after the fifth time because...

2.0 out of 5 stars Honestly
I hate to say this, but my daughter and I disliked this album. We have an extensive music library including everything from the MOldy Peaches to They Might Be Giants to Ralph Covert to Dan Zanes. And as a whole we love musicthat makes you want to dance. As my two year old stated yucky. And I have to agree, we rather listen to CSN original verision of Teach Your Children...

My five-year-old daughter and I really love this CD. The covers are great "versions" of the originals, and the original tracks are great additions to the overall feel of this CD. Maroon 5's "Pure Imagination" is fantastic, as is The Dixie Chick's "The Rainbow Connection." It's a great CD to listen to together and it doesn't drive you crazy after the fifth time because it's kinda "rockin'". If your children are strictly into "kiddie" types of music, i.e. Laurie Berkner, this probably isn't going to be their thing. My daughter is older and is, thankfully, expanding her musical tastes. This is something we both enjoy, minus the singing veggies and all...I highly recommend this to more mature children.

And I have to agree, we rather listen to CSN original verision of Teach Your Children or any of CSN songs, And Madonna album has better sounding songs then the Little Star honestly get the original verision of the songs. We did not get any further then song 6 which is Baby of Mine, so the album may improve after the 6 song, but I would be suprised.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, January 9, 2006

This CD is very disappointing. My husband and I have become big fans of a wide range of "all ages" music and were optimistic about this CD, which was put together for a good cause. We just got through listening to it with our 2-year old and were surprised at how listless all the cuts were. There is not one fun, bouncy, danceable tune in the bunch--with the exception perhaps of the Indigo Girls cut. Our son loves to dance and really enjoys engaging music. This compilation edges toward the depressive at times. Even "Pure Imagination" hits a few too many minor notes for such a joyful song.

3.0 out of 5 stars A few really great songs, February 5, 2006

While I like many of the artists on this album, not all of the songs seem real "kid friendly". I agree with the previous reviewer that the Maroon 5 song is just too dark. If you are looking for a great kids album that you can tolerate listing to over and over again, I recommend buying the original "For the Kids" instead; that CD didn't leave my car disc player for 5 months! No joke!

Not sure why almost all of the songs on this CD are very slow kind of lullabye songs. Very Boring. Kids don't want to relax with only slow songs! Not what I expected with such great, normally upbeat artists as contributors.

My 3yr son loves to sing and dance! I loved the title of this cd and most of the artists. However i was disappointed when i actually listened to it. There is really nothing upbeat about any part of this cd. In my option, i think an adult would enjoy it more than a child. Most of the songs are slow, which my 3yr old lost interest in very quickly! I was looking for classic, fun, easy to sing and dance to music and this was just not it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is will not make you want to poke your eyeballs out!, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Mary Had a Little Amp (Audio CD)
First off I will say...I am NOT a fan of kids' music. Laurie Berkner, Dan Zane, and Raffi make me want to run screaming from the room. This is the first children's CD that I find immensely enjoyable and my 6 year old daughter loves it, too. The tracks are light-hearted enough for my daughter to listen to over and over. And I like the overall message and tone of the CD...little star; reduce, reuse, recycle; rainbow connection; baby mine. Four thumbs up from me and my daughter!!

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR KIDS, June 30, 2007
This review is from: Mary Had a Little Amp (Audio CD)
BORROWED THIS FROM THE LOCAL LIBRARY THINKING IT MIGHT BE NICE MUSIC TO SHARE WITH MY TODDLER. NOPES. IT'S VERY MUCH FOR ADULTS. AND, BESIDES GOOD OL JACK JOHNSON, A HAWAII SON, I FOUND THE MUSIC LACKING.

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining and wonderful songs, December 2, 2011

My grandchild of 14 months loves this cd and so do I. Her two favorites are The Rainbow Connection by the Dixie Chicks(beautiful version, great, melodic voice) and Wild Wild Party at the Loquat Tree. When You Wish Upon a Star and Teach Your Children(wish it was a longer version) are also nice. Really the entire album is good and my grandchild keeps wanting to hear it over and over. I'm very pleased with this children's cd and I highly recommend it.

This cd is terrible. With all of the great children's albums out there, don't waste your money on this one.
