4.0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
As a young woman who has been showing, training, breeding, and riding horses since a very young age, it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to horsemanship games. When I opened up a Christmas gift to find this game, I inwardly groaned and said, Ewwww. Mary-Kate and Ashley. Later that day, I was glued to the Playstation. I bought this game because I am a horse lover and felt that it looked pretty fun. Although I enjoyed it at first it's not one you can play again and again
The basic premise of the game is simple and appeals to younger gamers. Ride around various courses, jumping a variety of different obstacles and earning ribbons to buy clothes.
The graphics are ok and being able to name your horse and choose colour and markings was a nice touch.
I enjoyed the freedom of being able to ride around and explore the two free ride levels but it took me ages to find all the ribbons and work out how to get them.
Also the terrain, although looks good, gets a bit boring and tend to look the same after a while.
The events are fun and get more challenging as you complete the levels but it took me a little getting used to the controls especially for jumping and dressage. (I kept refusing Jumps because I only pressed the X button once)
The good points of the game are the choice of ride you want to go on: e.g. Eventing, Free ride or Race against the clock and the sound effects and little added extras such as winning rosettes to buy clothes makes it that bit more fun.
However the game was a little bit too easy and does eventually get boring after awhile.
I also felt that the other reviewers were right in saying that buying clothes is a little pointless. It would be nice to be able to buy things such as tack or feed that helps boost your horse in certain Skill Levels such as jumping etc or to buy better horses. Also when ever you take a wrong turn that dratted voice keeps telling you that "You're going the wrong way" or "You missed a checkpoint". After the fiftyeth time you end up wanting to throttle her. I really hope that the makers bring out a revised sequel because there are certain points that would make this game so much better. Despite this though it's pretty good and a good game for a younger brother or sister.

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up, May 2, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Mary Kate & Ashley's Winner Circle (Video Game)
As a young woman who has been showing, training, breeding, and riding horses since a very young age, it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to horsemanship games. When I opened up a Christmas gift to find this game, I inwardly groaned and said, Ewwww. Mary-Kate and Ashley. Later that day, I was glued to the Playstation. My parents had to drag me off of it to go to bed. Needless to say, I was very impressed.
Starting out in the stable, you can customize your own rider and horse, and set out to ride, whether you choose horse trials, three or single day eventing, horseshoe hunting, or a simple trail ride, you can be gaurunteed that you'll have fun. The game focuses around the 3-day-eventing, with progression in levels (you work your way up from beginner's circle to winner's circle) and new course layouts for each level.
A fun aspect of the game is the collection of ribbons you can win while trail riding, which can then be spent like money in the tack shop. While there's no tack in the shop, you can buy clothes for your rider, which (however girly it may seem) is rather fun. You can have a tweed coat for showing your chestnut horse, or a black hunt coat for a white horse. The possibilites are endless.
The trail-riding worlds (island and forest) are both huge, with beautiful scenery and landscapes. Each has several hidden minigames, but you'll probably just find yourself galloping aroung exploring. With the two-player option, you can ride with a friend, which is even more fun. The music that plays in the background for these worlds (also featured in horse trials and horseshoe hunts) is catchy and sugary.
The one thing I didn't like about this game is MK-A's voice overs, like "You're on the wrong trail" or "you missed a checkpoint" during the cross-country course. Can you say ANNOYING? Another thing is that, while caring for your horse, the rider will say stupid things like, when brushing the tail "someone needs to use some conditioner!" or when cleaning out the stall, "it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it." I mean, is it really neccesary?
However, these are not trivial problems and if you love horses, you should definately purchase this game! It's great for those rainy days that you can't go out to the barn. Saddle up and I'll see you on the trails!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good horse game, December 25, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mary Kate & Ashley's Winner Circle (Video Game)
I enjoyed this game a lot. I like how you can create your own horse and compete in Dressage, Cross-Country, and Showjumping. There are a few things I dont think are the greatest. One: The charaters you choose from are UGLY! They say make a charater that looks like you. What, do Mary-Kate and Ashley think everyone is UGLY!?!?!?! I dunno. Two: If you accidently miss a checkpoint, the stupid voices will say 'YOU missed a checkpoint!' It gets SOOOOOOOOOO annoying! Third: In the tack show, I thought they could have done better. They didn't have any saddles, bridles no tack. Only clothes. No duh you can tell its a Mary-Kate and Ashley game.
Everything else, I thought was great. It may seem I hated this game, but i really didn't. Try it out for yourelf! You might like it.

This game was very fun, and I recommend it to anyone 13 and younger. I'm 14 now and I love horses, so obviously, I still liked the game. I am trying to find a game called Equestriad 2001, I heard it was more realistic and for older, more intense players. The adventures in Mary-Kate and Ashley's Winner's Circle are horrible, and when you do the cross country, if you miss a jump, Mary-Kate, or whoever, keeps buging you and saying "You missed a check-point", blah blah blah, fifty million times! Or "You're on the wrong path!" when you're trying to turn around and jump the jump again! Even though it sounds like I hate the game, I still had a lot of fun with it.

this game is great and can fuil on a daily basis the crucial fun needed by those people that don't own horses but would like to, you can choose to be mk or a and then pick your outfit, your horse, and then compete in different events using arrow keys to direct and jump, it has music which is kind of catchy, this is fun but the same thing can get boring

I rented this game a month before I bought it for a huge carefully raised $(dollar amount). When I brought it home I played with it for hours. I was so addicted, I for once (gasp) WOKE UP EARLY ON A SCHOOL DAY just to play it!If you're considering buying a cool game just for MK&A fans, I DEFINITELY recommend Mary-Kate and Ashley Winer's Circle to you!

I'm 16 and I flew through the game. It was pretty good fun, but after a while it got a bit boring and there was a part in the game (I think it's faulty) when if you don't quite jump over something, the horse gets stuck!
It's good for the little kids who like to be challenged as well, as it's not that easy.
It's a good game also for the people who love horses and horseriding.

This game is very enjoyable and is great for horse lovers and Mary-Kate and Ashley fans. You get to compete in competitions and just adventure round and you also get to take care of your horse. Even though I have got to the winners circle it's still great to play again and again.

This game is really cool is ur under 14 and love horses and riding. You can design and name ur own horse, which u can then ride in dressage, x country, jumping free ride. You can win ribbons and trade them for outfits and maps in the shop, and you can feed groom, and generally care for ur horse, to get more points in dressage. The only problem is, it's too easy, and i completed it within a week. Buy it though, coz it's worth the money.
