A Must for Your Library!,

This review is from: Mary Lincoln: Biography of a Marriage (Paperback)
For those who wish to gain an objective understanding of Mary Lincoln, this book is for you. Well-read and educated, Mary Lincoln was simply "born before her time."And she endured tragedy that far exceeded Victorian expectations: She lost her mother at seven; several half-brothers were killed in the Civil War; three of her four sons died in their youth; her husband was shot while she was holding his hand. Her son, Robert, was a greedy snob who cared not for his mother during her widow years, but for her money. Mary Lincoln deserves a break!

Good clean copy, definitely in excellent shape. The pages are slightly dark and the print is smaller than what I expected, making it slightly difficult to read. All in all, I am very satisfied with my purchase, and how promptly it arrived.

Mary Lincoln a Biography of a Marriage,

This review is from: Mary Lincoln; Biography of a Marriage. (Hardcover)
The copy I had began as a paperback and due to it's age ended up with some mages tearing loose as the binding eventually disintegrated into thin air.Imagining the goings on in the Lincoln Household as the young Lincoln and his aristocratic young lovely wife hook up and fall in love and are bombarded with life's situations. I loved being brought back in time and being reminded of how hard it must have been to have been a young married couple at the time, not to mention the effort needed for Lincoln to maintain an unpopular viewpoint at the time. |
