5.0 out of 5 stars Three Words: Chuckles. The. Clown.
After what seemed like an eternity, fans of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" were rewarded for their patience with a terrific release of "Season Five" last October. (The Oprah effect, anyone?) Hot on the heels of that release comes the announcement for "Season Six" which contains easily the greatest episode of the series and arguably one of the greatest episodes of any sitcom...

3.0 out of 5 stars Poor Packaging & Quality
I love all the MTM's, however I'm so disappointed in the 5th & 6th year packaging. It's poor, cheap quality is a real let down and does not match with the first four seasons. After returning the the broken case for the 6th season, I have now dicovered that disc 3 is defective in several areas........no sound, and/or feezing up.
Mary Tyler Moore would NOT be happy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Three Words: Chuckles. The. Clown., November 30, 2009
This review is from: The Mary Tyler Moore Show: The Complete Sixth Season (DVD)
After what seemed like an eternity, fans of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" were rewarded for their patience with a terrific release of "Season Five" last October. (The Oprah effect, anyone?) Hot on the heels of that release comes the announcement for "Season Six" which contains easily the greatest episode of the series and arguably one of the greatest episodes of any sitcom ever: "Chuckles Bites the Dust". In previous seasons the action was split between Mary's home life and work life. However, with the departure of Rhoda and Phyllis, the show now takes place almost exclusively at WJM-TV and the comedy really matures. You don't see shows written like this anymore, so sit back and enjoy yourself with some old friends this winter.

Fans can expect the following classic episodes when the set arrives in February:
1. Edie Gets Married
2. Mary Moves Out
3. Mary's Father
4. Murray In Love
5. Ted's Moment of Glory
6. Mary's Aunt
7. Chuckles Bites the Dust
8. Mary's Delinquent
9. Ted's Wedding
10. Lou Douses an Old Flame
11. Mary Richards Falls in Love
12. Ted's Tax Refund
13. The Happy Homemaker Takes Lou Home
14. One Boyfriend Too Many
15. What Do You Want to Do When You Produce?
16. Not With My Wife, I Don't
17. The Seminar
18. Once I Had a Secret Love
19. Menage-a-Lou
20. Murray Takes a Stand
21. Mary's Aunt Returns
22. A Reliable Source
23. Sue Ann Falls in Love
24. Ted and the Kid

As a huge fan of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, I have all the seasons and watch them regularly. In watching this Sixth season, there seems to be a sadness in the shows. I think the fact that now Rhoda and Phyllis are both gone, and the fact that Mary has moved into a new and less warm apartment, have a lot to do with it. As hard as they tried to fill the void with Georgette and Sue Ann, it just isn't as well rounded as the show was before. I still love the show and episodes, but I'm finally able to understand why MTM decided to end the show after 7 seasons. Some good things never last.

Thanks to Fox for getting these last seasons out quickly...One wish for season seven when it is released is that
they include the cast call in the final episode...I haven't seen this since I first saw the final episode in the
late seventies and if the is one lttle extra that I crave out of this series this would be it.....meanwhile this is the season that has the classic "chuckles bites the dust episode. If you need one example of the comedic brilliance of Mary Tyler Moore, then this is it....The funeral scene is pure gold...enjoy this season and bring on seven

5.0 out of 5 stars keep it going!, February 28, 2010

Though I'm not a huge fan of most sit-coms, simply becuase most of them are JUST NOT FUNNY, I gladly acknowledge several exeptions, such as "All In the Family", "M*A*S*H", "Maude", "Good Times", and yes, of course, "Mary Tyler Moore Show". It seems that, late-1960's to mid-1970's, TV really did hit a creative peak of sorts. And in the past few years, I found it pretty cool to have seen these shows again, be reunited with them. Last spring I watched the first 3 seasons of MTM & loved them. I bought season 4 last summer , watched it & loved it, in the fall, season 5, and just a couple of weeks ago I watched season 6, loved it (ESPECIALLY THE "CHULKES" ONE!!!) And like most others, I gave my 5 stars based largely on the fact I loved the episodes & picture quality, and not so much because of the packaging. But this times around there's at least a list of episodes inside. And certainly a nice cliff-hanger when Georgette announces she's pregnant-but she dosen't have the baby 'till 1st episode of season 7. So yes, I'm now waiting for season 7.

This one has the Chuckles the Clown episode, which is a classic, but most of the other episodes were fairly routine, indicating that this show was starting to lose steam. I'm an MTM fan, so I can overlook the shortcomings, but if you're looking for this show's heyday, turn to the earlier seasons.

We have season 6. Though the packaging isn't nearly as cheap as the 5th season it isn't nearly as good as the first four. They do include an episode list (no synopsis) and little else. I didn't buy it for the packaging I bought it for the content which is wonderful as expected. I had forgotten how funny some of these episodes were. So if you are a MTM buy this set and you won't be sorry. I can't wait for season 7.

Now where are the rest of the seasons of The Bob Newhart Show???

Season six just great as they all are. "I Once Had a Secret Love" I think is the best one. The dynamics between Lou and Mary feel so genuine it blows you away. And so very funny! Season 7 coming in October WOOO HOOOO!
