5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, sensual, poetic, romantic, but still ROCKS!
Alejandro Sanz is a REAL artist, in the true meaning of the word. Here is a singer/songwriter who has actually taken his heart out from inside, is holding it in his hand to share it with the rest of the world. That's how he writes. But he sings not just with his heart, but with all of his soul. He's very poetic, sensual, sensitive, romantic, BUT he also definitely...

1.0 out of 5 stars Mas? How about Mess?
After all of the hype and countless favorable reviews posted about this CD I decided to see what all the fuss about. MAS is nothing like I expected. It's bland and filled with unnecessary melodrama. Alejandro has a great raspy voice but he doesn't let MAS breathe at all. Starting with "y, si fuera ella?" which would've been a decent song if he would just shut up once in a...

Alejandro Sanz is a REAL artist, in the true meaning of the word. Here is a singer/songwriter who has actually taken his heart out from inside, is holding it in his hand to share it with the rest of the world. That's how he writes. But he sings not just with his heart, but with all of his soul. He's very poetic, sensual, sensitive, romantic, BUT he also definitely rocks!! This album is so versatile, that for sure you're bound to fall in love with at least one of the songs. Take your pick, from the poetic verses of "Y, Si Fuera Ella?" or the rockin' guitar sounds of "Hoy Que No Estas" and "Aquello Que Me Diste" or the salsa/flamenco sounds of "Corazon Partio," which is the one he'll probably be best known for. There's other styles, too, that will surely grab your attention. If one doesn't, for sure another one will. I don't have a favorite because I love them all. However, "Aquello Que Me Diste" comes to mind because it rocks and is so upbeat towards the end and the the broken glass just gets me. This album, or should I say this artist, makes you feel alive and brings a certain hope or faith that love still does exist and that THAT is truly all we need. Even though some songs may sound a little sad, there's still that sense of hope that love is just around the corner. And even though it may not be true in your life, at least his songs will tell you YES. I wish more people here in the US, who are not Spanish-speaking would learn to speak Spanish, so that they could see how beautiful this man really is... For me, this is NOT comparable to any other artist or album. There is just NO way; NO possibility; no one that comes close. The album, is not just a disc, but it's also a piece of his very own heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars mas, December 20, 1999
This review is from: Mas (Audio CD)
I discovered this gem of a collection by good luck in Cuba. It was played to me by a Cuban friend and I just had to have a copy. We danced under the stars to Corazon Partido in Santiago de Cuba and I just fell in love with this track .... she was the perfect person to be with too! Like other non spanish speakers we know his music and words mean so much to us even if we can not understand the language. Could any one send me an English translation of the lyrics because I really want to know what he says too ? I also hear there is a new CD out is that correct and can anyone tell me more on this @ P.J.Tracey@derby.ac.uk

Here in the UK ...A.S is not known at all, well you know of course ! I love this music and listen to it so much i agree with everyone else so Wake up world and join us too !

Gracias Alejandro

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing, January 16, 2004

Alejandro Sanz is not a singer, he is a poet, the musical structures he writes are absolute amazing (and I ought to know, since being a musician myself) but besides his impressive musical arrangements and production, what cautivated me the most are his abosolutelly amazing lyrics. Alejandro Sanz's vision of the world is very unique, the way he interprets what's around him, from "corazon partio" where he explains how it feels to have a broken heart, to "siempre es de noche" where he feels throught the heart of a blind man in love, it is simply outstanding.
Great work from one of the most talented singer-songwriter of our time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give it more than 5 stars., April 30, 2000

This is by far the best CD I own. I can assure you that you won't get tired of listening to it; on the contrary, each time you will find it even more fascinating. I love how he varies the rhythm in every song and never repeats the same verse, so that instead of being repetitive, he surprises you every single time. If you understand spanish you'll appreciate how smart his lyrics are; extremely romantic and passionate but their meaning never explicit. Even if you don't understand a word he's saying, you'll still get caught up in his feeling... you just know the guy is singing his heart out... GET IT!

Every time I listen to "más" I like it even better. It is a great album, containing both happy and sad songs with very poetic lyrics. Buy this album, you won't regret it, it's the Spanish version of Eros Ramazotti, Alejandro Sanz' music is more sophisticated than Eros. However, this is not a latin pop album, it is more than that. "Más" is AS best album, especially songs like "Corazón partío" and "aquello que me diste" Can't seem to get tired of listening to it, not even now 1½ years after buying it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mas? How about Mess?, August 20, 2002
This review is from: Mas (Audio CD)
After all of the hype and countless favorable reviews posted about this CD I decided to see what all the fuss about. MAS is nothing like I expected. It's bland and filled with unnecessary melodrama. Alejandro has a great raspy voice but he doesn't let MAS breathe at all. Starting with "y, si fuera ella?" which would've been a decent song if he would just shut up once in a while. It doesn't end there though. He continues to overload each and every song with a truck load of words.

It seems that hooks are irrelevant on MAS. Not one song got stuck in my head. Not even a verse. There is no structure on this CD. MAS comes off as more of a melodramatic mess than anything else. The musical arrangements are just as bland. Each song is mid-tempo, watered down, pop/rock. To top it all off the songs are 4 minutes and over in length. I don't know how people gave this CD such great reviews. This isn't great latin pop at all. MAS is a complete mess. Note to Alejandro: let the songs breath next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars I don't know if it's the best, but it surely is great!!!, November 25, 2001

Although the first song we heard from Alejandro Sanz was not from Mas, but from 3 (Lo ves), we directly went to the music store when we had a discount on this. Y si fuera ella was on a promotion cd with international music and it's the best song on that box (not important anyway). So we went to the music store and this cd has been the beginning. Now I have got all his cd's, but not yet found a better song than Y si fuera ella. Maybe there will never be a better song.
Anyway, if you didn't buy it yet, you have to do it right now, just forget your pc, it will be fine, and listen to it until you get crazy, that won't happen. But also amiga mia, si hay dios, and corazon partio are great. And if I give my own opinion, you'd better skip La margarita dija no, but that should not be a problem. Other songs will make it so right.

Also his other cd's are beautiful, especially 3 and El alma al aire. And if you buy El alma al Aire, make sure you buy the special edition with duets with the Corrs, a very famous Irish band in Europe. Maybe not a allday combination, but a very beautiful one.

My biggest wish is to see him performing live in the Netherlands, with the Corrs off course. So if anyone of you has the opportunity to see him live, don't hesitate a single minute, just buy the tickets and tell me what it was like!!!

This review is from: Mas (Audio CD)
Alejandro felicitaciones!!!!
