3.0 out of 5 stars It all started with tego
My fling with regaetton (possibly temporary) started with Tego Calderon's "Metele Sazon", which is a great song. I'm not hispanic/latina/whatever and I don't speak more than a handful of Spanish (mostly bad words) but I'm hooked on regaetton. It's not for everyone (better that way) and it sounds really good with the volume turned up. My only complaint is there...

My fling with regaetton (possibly temporary) started with Tego Calderon's "Metele Sazon", which is a great song. It's not for everyone (better that way) and it sounds really good with the volume turned up. My only complaint is there should have been a larger female presence (beside the orgasmic moaning, I mean...you know, rapping). It seems like Glory always represents the "girlas" and that's it. How about the "girlas" have more support so they can represent themselves? Okay, speaking off the soap box, I recommend this collection to most people with a pulse.

Standout tracks were: Metele sazon, hay algo en ti, bailando provocas, tu me pones mal, tu sabes, te quiero ver.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mas Flow is a Very Clever CD, September 23, 2004

The Artists on Mas Flow are the cream of the crop from Puerto Rico, and I really liked the CD. There is a new CD/DVD package coming out on entitled Ragga Nacion which features new songs from Nico Canada (The Noise), The Dream Team, T-Quest, General Degree, and many others. It also has many of the original hit songs that started the Reggaeton movement. It covers 1987-2004, so there is something for everyone. Amazon will have it on Oct. 12, and you can preview it at www.ragganacion.com before you buy. I got a preview copy from the Producers, and I really liked it, and that is why I wrote this review, and a couple of others.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a Foundamental point In Latin Urban/Reggaeton, May 6, 2008
This review is from: Mas Flow (Audio CD)
Latin Urban/Reggaeton/Playero genre has been around for years on end. Formally "Playero" way back towards the Late 80's and early to late 90's.....it had the elements of hip hop in the underground scene with alot of the rappers throwin shots at each other. Why Three Genre Names? Well because this is what Generally represents the Latin Urban Youth and what they have listened to for the past 15 years. Albums of course were released, But I seem to think alot of it was strictly for the scene in Puerto Rico never really coming stateside and brought over by very few people. I've had trouble trying to find alot of this old music between the period of 1990-1997. Even as a Child I never heard this music or the iconic rappers I've grown to admire and listen to over the past 5 years. I discovered a hint of this on Vacation to puerto rico back in 97 or 98 and never really thought of it much, I would never forget the rappers I heard, TITO & HECTOR. Fast Forward to 2003 and im just rediscovering reggaeton wit Tego, Don Omar, Lito & Polaco, Baby Rasta & Gringo, and countless others....AND I AM HOOKED. Gradually I grew into the music, the hook lines, the sexual innuedos...and the way it was danced.

I mention theses things because this very album was released at a pivitol point in the history of Latin Urban/Reggaeton. This album and its music contributed to the explosion of fans that reggaeton would find before "Gasolina" lit airwaves around the globe. This album is if anything one of the first of very few solid reggaeton albums and really contained THE BEST PRODUCERS in the genre to ever grace a compilation album, and would be the last time we ever saw that again. This album and the musical production it contains is so infectious and truly for the dance floor. Its so hard to come across reggaeton albums that hit so hard to the mind with lyrics but with hypnotic beats to compliment.

The Musical and lyrical high would have to be "Hay Algo En Ti" by Zion & Lennox. WOW what an incredible song to go along the transition that reggaeton was experiencing. It was a song that many many hispanics will never forget and took as one of the best songs of the year. I will never forget the hordes of females that loved the song and moved to it everytime a car with a system passed by. It remained popular even a year after its initial hearing, and so contributed to the success of Zion & Lennox. 4 years pass by and hearing that and Tego's "Metele Sazon" gives nostalgia, like "WHOAAAA!!!! This is was incredibly good music."

Am I a Professional of reggaeton? NO. Do i claim to know all its History, the battles between rappers, the most famous songs? NO. As Far as I kno im a newbie compared to much older puerto ricans who grew up hearing this, living it, dancing it. At this point within 4 years after its initial explosion its been juiced out of its originality and underground flavor. Its rebellious attitude no longer shines in comparison to what this album represents. Very few artist today who are still heavily involved in this genre show its grittiness and creativeness. This album showcases just a batch, of the cream of the crop, that still represents its originality. And if you go after the albums of those listed on MAS FLOW you will see that rebellious, creative attitude they still possess for their music. Latin Urban/Reggaeton is a genre that started Puerto Rican in roots till this day(I dont even include Panama). And if it does die out in the mainstream, even better because it will remain and continue in Puerto Rico and all throught the underground networks of Latin America. I Possess about 150 different albums, all of it reggaeton, containing many classics all the way back to 97 and mostly everything up to this date. Anything further back has been a trip to find and Luckily I came across this album in the process. Reggaeton is not for every hispanic and so i share my positive review for this album in hopes other would appreciate what i enjoy.....

Happy Listening my Fellow Reggaetoneros
