High speed industrial dance,
By A Customer
This review is from: Maschine Zeit (Audio CD)
Funker Vogt are back with yet another strong collection of high speed four on the floor industrial dance tracks. Overall the sound hasn't changed that much from their previous full length, "The Execution Tracks", but I noticed that the vocals are a bit more tame here and not as high in the mix which I think works better with their sound. The music is still harsh though and thumps relentlessly throughout. "Nuclear Winter" is the only track without any percussion really, it has an atmospheric piano that propells the song along with an eerie post-apocalyptic mood and lyrics to fit . Standout tracks for me are "Sins", "Black Market Dealers", "The Last", and the single "Gunman". If you don't know Funker Vogt, this album is a good introduction as they have improved on each one. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because sometimes the tracks blend into each other because of the tempo and sound similarities. Otherwise, be ready to dance. And kill.

jebus...and people say this CD blew? sheesh! i heard a few of their songs on some internet radio. one being Body Count, and another being Tragic Hero. i loved what i heard so much that i bought this cd.its my favorite cd. and im a devoted fan of FV now. im contemplating buy both T and Killing Time Again. not many bands or songs become number one with me. but if anyone ever asked me what my favorite band was...well, i think you know the answer to that. this CD sold me. god, i love these guys.

Great album. The song Maschine Zeit just fills me to the lip with energy and the will to throw heavy steel objects in a factory. Gunman is a good song with neat beats and cool lyrics. I love The Journey for it's driving beat and amazing lyrics. I like almost every song here though. I just scratched the surface. But I've written two huge reviews tonight already and I'm tired

I'm not really into the gothic industrial scene, or rather I wasn't until my brother introduced me to Funker Vogt. I love the combination of the dance beat with the singer's foreign accent as he powerfully delivers the dark message of war and the end of the world. I would highly recommend Maschine Zeit to anyone dark and violent enough to enjoy the words while at the same time is able to get into the rhythm. Great CD to take running with you.

Ahhh....this takes me back. I can't believe it's been five years already!!
Excellent!! This is one of my all-time favorite ebm/industrial listens and is my favorite Funker Vogt. I love to play UT04 to these tunes - very mechanical/industrial sounding with a hint of wartime angst - gotta love it! I would say my favorite track is track 11: Zeit - it's a slow tune, but very moving... Some people love it, some hate it. If you like Front Line Assembly, you might like this one.

Simply excellent. I can't say I'm a particular fan of industrial music (I'm kind-of like all music-styles, except for modern pop), but this is simply... great. The stamping beats, the wonderful melodies, and the lyrics which delivers the dark theme of war and destruction. In particular, the song "Maschine Zeit" is extremely good.

A CLASSIC. This is Funker Vogt's signature album. It is the amalgamut of ideas and structures they were building up to. Albeit less aggro than the past efforts it is ear candy nonetheless. Solid EBM. This one plays on my system quite often and if you get a chance to own the import...it comes with cd rom content as well as the bonus track "Horizon". Check this one out first! Faves: "Maschine Zeit", "Nuclear Winter", "Cold", "Nothing To Include", and "Horizon".

A great CD. VERY updated synth sounds, and traditonal Funker drums. Lyrics right to par with Execution Tracks or Killing Time.

Funker Vogt does not want to deriviate from their tried and true formula of club friendly beats, distorted vocals, and cheezy yet instifull lyrics about war..and this inability to grow earns this cd a mark of 4. But, as always, funker vogt brings in the goods, with tracks like Gunman, Machine Zite, the Last, and Sins, you will be dancin your rivet-head but off, no doubt about it. If you'd like to see a diferent and softer side of funker vogt, check out their side projects, Fictional(synth-pop), and ravenous(dark synth-pop).

Funker Vogt Mellows??,
By David N (Tampa, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Maschine Zeit (Audio CD)
Funker Vogt is one of the more productive German electro/industrial/dance bands. Each of their CDs is pretty much in the same vein - killer beats, goofy lyrics, and mostly great songs. Maschine Zeit (Machine Age) follows through on this well tried formula for the most part. Although their usual grim themes are the same (extinction, spying, post-War German life, etc.) the music is a bit more poppy and less industrial. The edgyness of "We Came to Kill" and "Thanks for Nothing" is pretty much all but gone. Instead, there is a smoother sound, obviously influenced by FV's related projects, Revenous and Fictional. Kind of like Ravenous and Fictional doing covers of Funker Vogt. On the plus side, the lyrics are a bit clearer here, although they are still kind of goofy. FV's live performances of the same material on this CD at their concerts has more of their old sound. Not bad, and probably not a disappointment for you, too.
