Book Description

Osprey Classic Marques April 1995
This is a pictorial history of the Italian automobile marque, Maserati. Its history is traced from its foundation in 1926, when five brothers collaborated to produce a successful racing car, to post-war concentration on road cars, such as the 3500GT of the sixties, the 1978 Bora, the Biturbo Spyder of 1984 and today's Chamal.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only a picture book, and not a great one., May 9, 2001

This review is from: Maserati Heritage (Osprey Classic Marques) (Paperback)
This is a loosely organized overview of Maseratis through 1995, concentrating primarily on road cars. It's primarily a picture book, and its lack of substantive historical or technical data is frustrating. The pictures are of high quality, but they're repetitive (even if you're a Maserati fanatic, how many lovingly photographed close-ups of the Maserati trident badge do you need) and they omit a lot of interesting models -- the saloons are particularly neglected. It's not clear for whom this book is intended. There's not enough information to constitute either a history or a buyer's guide, and if all you want is pretty pictures, there are other books that provide them and more content to go with them.
