A Brilliant Melding of Musical Styles, October 11, 2002

To my ears this music is part acoustic jazz, fusion and free jazz. Gauthier and his band seamlessly integrate these styles into the music. Violinist Gauthier plays with a marvelously pure tone. Gauthier and guitarist Nels Cline take most of the solos. Cline plays electric and 12 string acoustic guitar, adding to the sonic texture. Pinaist David Witham, Bassist Joel Hamilton and Drummer Alex Cline hold the whole thing together and play brilliantly as well. Outstanding sound quality to boot. Highly recommended for the musically adventurous.
