A future multiple Tony winner!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Z: The Masked Musical (1998 Concept Cast) (Audio CD)
Z is a sure fire hit!I first heard about this CD in Usenet. Z is one of the best shows I have ever heard. It rates up there with: Jekyll, Phantom, and Les Miz. There are at least four show stopping hits. You can hear the music and actually envision how the play will be staged. The music is moving and the lyrics are touching. I have never had a song move me to tears in my life. "We Do What We Must Do" did. Plus, this is a concept CD. The play will not even be staged until early next year. This gives you a chance to be on to a hit right from the start. I am sure this show will get to Broadway. I am equally sure it will win multiple Tony awards. If you are thinking about "taking a chance" on this you will not be disappointed _____________________________________

Z. The Masked Musical is a compact disc where different kinds of voices can be found, all of them are gorgeous. This CD reminds me of my childhood, when I grew whacthing Zorro series. It would be impossible to mention only one song, they are perfect at all. Robert W. Cabell made a terrific work here. It's adviseble for any Zorro's fan as well as Deborah Gibson's fans. Into the booklet is found the intrigue of this which seems to be a great and successful musical. I think with the premier coming soon the legend of Zorro is born again and now forever. Congratulations to Mr. Cabell.

This CD the concept recording for "Z" is wonderful It is typical Broadway style music that is invigorating and very energetic. I am part of the Premiere Cast and believe that this is a show worth seeing. The concept recording was very well done and the show promises much much more.

This CD is so much fun to listen to! It's Drama, romance and a few shenanigans thrown in. I can visualize what is going on as the story develops and can just escape with the music. I can't wait to see it in production!

Don't bother,

This CD is totally not worth spending the money on. I hope it was just a recording made for fun--the lyrics alone are pretty horrible. The rhyme scheme is simplistic (e.g. "He's Zorro! Zorro! Defending the poor with each blow! Each blow!", and so on). It's a shame that some of the people on this CD wasted their talents on mediocre material.

Z SOARS!,
This review is from: Z: The Masked Musical (1998 Concept Cast) (Audio CD)
This CD is the stuff Tony's are made of. The lyrics move you to incredible emotions. The music is inspiring. The voices, simply the best. This play needs to get to Broadway NOW! This will be a collector's edition and a CD to treasure for years to come.

Terrific musical interpretation of Zorro!,

Recently, I got the concept album of "Z -- the Masked Musical". It's terrific! I've heard the songs so many times, I can remember them really well. One of the attractions of the CD is the Spanish flavor in many of the songs -- though in some of them the flavor is minimal. One song I'm not especially crazy about is "Twists and Turns", but that's not a big problem, since the other songs are terrific! Also, the singers are really good. (Somebody noticed that in some cases (the padre, the governor, Maria, and most notably Diego/Zorro) two singers sing the same role in different songs. I can explain the reason why in the case of Diego/Zorro. There were supposed to be fewer songs on the CD -- I think twelve, and time constraints forced two singers to take the same role. I presume it's the same for the other characters. As for how I got that info, I asked the creator of the website of the musical.) In short, I love the CD. I recommend it for any Zorro fans (like myself) or any fans of Spanish music. Belle Book

A MUST FOR DEBORAH GIBSON FANS,
By Michael B (Preston, Lancashire United Kingdom) - See all my reviews

In all honesty I only purchased this CD because it featured Deborah Gibson. Having been a fan of Deborah's since way back, it was a must for me. Living in the UK we don't hear much about Deborah. It was only when browsing at [the internet] that I saw this CD and purchased it immediately. There are 5 songs featuring Deborah, all of which are excellent, although I am perhaps slightly biased. The only downside to this CD is that the bonus tracks (alternative versions of the brilliant "What makes a hero" and " Now that I have you" Produced by Tony Moran) are not performed by Deborah Gibson & Ruben Gomez. All in all this is an excellent listen and certainly a must for ALL Deborah Gibson fans.

Deborah Gibson's Sophomore Cast Recording - A Smash!,
By Tom Palces (Manila, Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Z: The Masked Musical (1998 Concept Cast) (Audio CD)
Deborah Gibson first came up with a cast recording during the early nineties via Grease! belting out a unique version of "Hopelessly Devoted To You", a really charming rendition.... This time, she's back with the Zorro inspired musical and she's better than ever! Her voice sounding so crisp and clear, often melodic. This is a real treat to all her fans with exceptional songs like "What Makes A Hero", "His Face" and "Everything But Love". Also, her duets with Roberto Blades and Ruben Gomez stands out in this musical. In general, this CD is above average.

Awsome cd marred only by confusing arrangement,

The songs and artists on this cd are all amazing. The only slight problem with it is there seems to be more than one person singing the same role on different songs. Anybody who likes The Scarlet Pimpernel should buy this cd. So should everybody else, really.
