Book Description

When Mason McQueen's overbearing mother hears strange animal sounds from inside her son’s room she is convinced that he is harbouring a stray dog, but only the old stone gargoyle statue that sits outside Mason’s bedroom window knows the real truth. Lucky to be alive after surviving a horrific traffic accident, the hardy teenager should be able to deal with anything life has to throw at him, but not everyone has a P.E teacher quite like Mr Tyler. The cat is really set amongst the pigeons, (or would be, if all the cats in the area hadn’t mysteriously gone missing), when Chloe Draper the local ‘weird girl’ gets weirder and wakes up trapped inside her school locker. Mason, his friends and Hunter the school bully, are unexpectedly thrown together by chance and discover the bizarre secret plaguing their small town and why certain residents are gaining supernatural powers. Struggling to make it through another school term at Darwin Grammar soon becomes the least of Mason’s problems as he is about to discover, for where there is a price, someone will have to pay it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent start to a new series March 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although aimed at teenagers, anyone who loves fantasy will enjoy the creative story twists.

This well written book is the first in a new series and I intend to read them as Graham writes them.

This is an British import so you may wish to read the reviews on Amazon.co.uk

Have fun!

3.0 out of 5 stars Get young teens reading! January 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I liked quite a bit about this book, although I'm not in the age group of its intended readership. This is a fun fantasy about fifteen-year-olds and their problems with school and home. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it much when I was fifteen (we old folk were into stodgier stuff) but it's pretty readable. This is something to get young teenagers reading, to encourage them that it's as good as a videogame going on in your head. To be a bit more educational, the text could do with another edit to sort out punctuation and some glitches. The writing and imagination are just fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable, un-put-downable read! September 13, 2013
By Bodger
Format:Kindle Edition
When I downloaded this novel onto my kindle and took it on holiday with me I never thought I would read it. With a few days of holiday still to go and having read all of George R R Martins 'Game of Thrones' series (to date) I decided to give the Gargoyles Curse a go. With a few hours of reading I was hooked and could not put my kindle down. The characters are very memorable and the story line is excellent. The Gargoyles curse is sure to soon be a modern classic!

3.0 out of 5 stars Too old for this. November 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I guess this would be fine for a younger readership, but I couldn't relate. I keep looking for engaging YA books, but they are getting harder & Harder to find.

3.0 out of 5 stars SLOW February 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Tho the book was ok, I found it a little long in the tooth. Moved along at a slow pace. More action would have helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars My son loved it. September 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sometimes my children come to me, kindle in hand, and say, "Can you see if there are more books in this series?" This was one of those books. Hopefully the author will write another so that my son can read it, too :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for teens May 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I think there's a limit on the age of an individual that would be interested in this. It's kind of a tweener book, like 11-14 is probably the safest age group. I think any older kids are going to find it too simplistic (and maybe a little contrived). Younger kids will get this, though.

More About the Author

Growing up in Devon England I hated books with a passion, so I wrote this for my teenage self in the hope that it would help others appreciate books from a younger age and to prove to myself I could actually do it.
I love horror movies, gargoyles and Gothic architecture, and I suppose all that helps when you live sandwiched between two graveyards. And, like a true Brit, I do love a good cup of tea.
I am a huge fan of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series, everything Tolkien, and, as of late, Terry Pratchett's Discworld.
My aim is that my books will make the reader question, "How do I know who I am, when I don't know what I am?" If you want a series that will grow into an epic story with twists and turns and shocking cliff hangers with laughs along the way, then the Mason McQueen series is definitely for you.
