My dad, Rufus, tells me stories about WWII. He served with the 602 Camouflage Engineers. Amazing what they did to fool the eyes of the enemies! I wish I could find some of the guys that he served with, most are gone now. He will enjoy this book!
I watched "The Longest Day" with him a few nights ago. We both laughed when they threw out the first rubber dummy paratrooper to fool the Germans...his name was Rufus!

I picked up this book used through Amazon as I found the topic highly interesting. I was not disappointed. The book does a good job of walking through both the 'big picture' strategies of camouflage and deception as well as how those strategies were utilized in major battlefields - like Normandy, North Africa, etc.

Whether it is due to the writer's bias or factual experience, the book leans heavily to the side of the 'Allies' in terms of how much coverage each side receives. But it still takes time to talk about some of the strategies the Axis powers employed.

I read most of the book during my two days of travel back from my Honeymoon. So it's not a really long read. And it was interesting enough to keep me engaged through the whole thing.

This book, and similar History Channel shows based on the same events have been around for a long time, but I had to read this one and it had already been surplussed by my local library. It was worth the small cost of a used copy to read Reit's take on the subject.
