Danni's fourth and best album!!,

This review is from: Masquerade of a Fool (Audio CD)
Wow!! Danni's fourth album is nothing short of awesome. Her attempt to return to true country music has been realized. The songs on this album have ringings of Patsy Cline and famous others of days gone by. While her first three albums will continue to be cherished, this one is a distinctly different Danni; one her fans (you know who you are!!) as well as other true country folks will want to add to their collections. Thanks Danni for a long overdue cd (you can come home now!!!!).

What a fantastic cd this is. If you are a fan of Danni's you have to add this to your collection. True country music at it's best. Danni has a such a beautiful, sultry voice and every song on this cd is sung with so much emotion you can feel the heartbreak. Her voice really stands out loud and clear. The arrangement of her songs are great too. My favorites are "Quarter Over You", "Shame On Me", "Mascarade of A Fool", "So Called Friend", "Damned If I Do" and " I Can Help You Find Your Heart". " Damned If I Do" has a touch of jazz. Big Kenny (of the great Big & Rich) co-wrote "Day By Day" which has a smooth, lighter feel to it than the others . "Unfinished Kiss" (the last song on the cd) has a bluesy, chuggin' whiskey, southern hard rock feel to it, kind of like the Allman Brothers Band. WOW... what a great song to finish the cd with. You will want to get up and dance to some of the turbo tonkin' tunes, and some of the slow songs may remind you of a past love. I am a HUGE fan of Danni's and have been for many years. I have all of her cds and this is already my favorite! Country on forever Danni Leigh!

If you are not familiar with Danni Leigh's music, and you are a classic country fan, you need to be. I've got all her recordings and I prize them over any of the "Pop Country" out there.

I was on the fence about paying for this import album -- I've loved all her work up until "Divide and Conquer," which really felt ground out. This album has quickly become my favorite Danni Leigh title: the songwriting is spectacular (with the different collaborators/co-authors on many of the tracks, there's a wide range of style too). The sounds complement the songwriting and Danni's vocals, as always, just makes me weak in the knees. The fact that I had to purchase an album that was recorded and produced in *Nashville* from a retailer in *Germany* says something about how music is made and marketed here in the States. But to me personally I think the album was well worth both the international shipping and the cost that went with it. So if you want to hear an excellent Nashville singer who is an excellent performer and seems to be hitting some peaks with her songwriting (and excellent choices of collaborators), this is the ticket. Maybe if enough people stateside pay the (currently REALLY unfavorable) exchange rates to buy this from Europe, some label will bother pressing some for sale on this side of the pond when her next album is cut. (And if it makes a difference, put me down for a pre-order if that ever happens!)

With each CD at the end I say 'this is the best one yet' and then our girl puts out another one that I say it again and I did. How does she do it? Will she ever come home and share it with us? How did we allow her to get away? I'll never understand the music industry. The very few times I happen to switch over from talk radio and/or CD's to music, I start to cry because I realize she has so much more to offer or as much to offer as what I'm listening to on the radio. I get so angry, hurt and upset that I have to turn it off. There is no COUNTRY MUSIC JUSTICE in the USA. Do we understand why she had to leave - of course, but do we like it - of course NOT. Danni - we'll never forget how hard you tried and how hard you fought. There is no other like Danni Leigh if YOU want true country music. Then you need to order all of her CD's. You will NOT be disappointed in any of them! I dearly love my NEW FAVORITE CD! Our love to you from your hometown! xoxo
