Mean analog and chop vox make mad groove., August 25, 1998

In this side project from God Lives Underwater, the industrial penchant for driving sound comes through beautifully while maintaining (or establishing) some kind of super-pop house feel. The analog skill Mass Hystereo wields is astounding, and it's hard not to be drawn along. Although extraordinarily professional and distinctive, the percussion left me feeling somewhat cheated as it failed to truly interface w/ the melody. All in all an excellent single. Anyone hungry for a taste of pseudo-80's technocore, face-lifted and polished by soft-spoken electric handlers should totally scope this disc.

This is 1/2 God Lives Underwater, December 9, 2003

Mass Hystereo is basically Jeff Turzo from God Lives Underwater. I love GLU so I was expecting this cd to be awesome. It's not bad but its problem is-it doesn't know what it wants to be. First it'll start off techno then dance then jungle, then acid chomp box, then weird. You can't get into it without it all of a sudden changing in one song. If you love GLU I'd suggest picking it up, it's different and experimental. But personally I didn't even really like the Mass Hystereo mixes of God Lives Underwater-'From your Mouth'. I did like this cd in a weird way though.
Jeff Turzo has a new band called 'WIRED ALL WRONG' you should check them out!
'David Reilly - INSIDE e.p.' is due out late May 2004 on corporate Punishment records. [...]

Pennsylvania based producer Mass Hystereo released this 4 tract self titled EP on 1500 Records, a subdivision of Polygram, that has at least one other notable release I know of, David Holmes, - "Let's Get killed" its nice to see they are continuing in the same fashion. On to the music. All cuts have a definite funk to them making them dance floor friendly and just plain fun. The opening track "Multitrack Mother" flows like a roller coaster ride a lot of ups and downs with a chunky bass line dropping a vocal sample here and there. My money is on track two, "Acid" a kickin' bass line, and heavily synthed guitar riffs that break and build with the bass line. Tweaked vocal samples frequently float in and out dropping the words "acid" and "don't mess with me" nice song. Track 3 "1, 2, 3 Go" carries along in pretty much the same fashion as the second. The fourth song "Warm Up" has a little different feel to it almost bringing a sense of urgency, making the listener feel there was something about to happen, when it didn't. Over all this was fun listening and comes recommended.
