This is an essential, one-of-a-kind resource for gaining the skills and knowledge you need to provide safe, effective massage therapy to patients in acute care settings and private practice clients who are medically frail. As demand grows for massage therapy in acute care, many bodyworkers seek to broaden their ability to meet this important need. To paraphrase the author: For many touch therapists, massage is more than a job or a profession--it's a calling.

With the knowledge gained from this expertly written book, you will be able to confidently provide massage therapy in the hospital, other care settings, and for clients affected by health problems. It's the ideal guide for student bodyworkers and practitioners, educators, hospital administrators, and a wide range of medical professionals.

This review is from: Massage for the Hospital Patient and Medically Frail Client (LWW In Touch Series) (Paperback)
I'm so glad I didn't start working in the hospital setting without reading this text first. I would have looked quite the fool. Mrs. MacDonald thoroughly gives a nice, informative, and conversationally written guide to working with very ill patients. How to play nice with other members of the very busy medical staff was a lifesaver. Don't expect this to be a book on Hospital Patient massage techniques. This is a book for Massage Therapist professionals, not amateurs. The patient data form really helped me to get what I needed from the nurses without taking up too much of their time. It seemed like every time I had a question while reading this book, it was answered on the next page. Mrs. MacDonald is really in tune to the mind of an LMT. I would love to be a student in one of her seminars one day.

This is an excellent resource for those working with Hospital Patients for any bodyworker. I return to it time and time again for clinical information and I read and re-read the stories and testimonies from other patients and practitioners as guidelines for many of the challenging circumstances that can come up when working with cancer patients.
