5.0 out of 5 stars one of the best medical texts I have read....
As a physical therapist working in the field for 25 years, I have read many medical textbooks. 2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
There are so many wonderful texts available which are actually full of useful poignant information. This text, I do not think to be one of them.

The techniques presented are either clinically insignificant or best learned from a 'basic' massage course.

This is not a text that I would recommend to a serious manual therapist with aspirations of...

A author is a tai-chi practicioner and he was able connect this with a pure racionale view. (One of his teachers was a technician.) No esoteric blabber (holistic, alternative, eastern, ...).

He is a humble author: After recognize joint problems he recommendes special professions (chiropractic, ostheopath, ...); his book is only "orthopedic", ...

Clear descriptions, clear pictures. A nice textbook of therapeutic massage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Book!, December 8, 2008
This review is from: Massage for Orthopedic Conditions (LWW Massage Therapy and Bodywork Educational Series) (Paperback)
As a massage therapist of 19 years, I have studied with many teachers and read many books. Massage for Orthopedic Conditions by Thomas Hendrickson is by far the most comprehensive and informative book I have seen. It contains in-depth scientific information on anatomy, dysfunction and treatment. The techniques and theories are based on a lineage of brilliant and well respected doctors and PTs. It's well written and inspiring. I refer to this book on a regular basis, and I continue to find more and more depth in the text. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Massage for Orthopedic Conditions, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Massage for Orthopedic Conditions (LWW Massage Therapy and Bodywork Educational Series) (Paperback)
This book is a must for those who want to work therapeutically with their massage clients. The book explains pain from a clinical point of view and details how to work with these clients in a clinical setting. There is extensive explanation about Muscle Energy Techniques. It is great.

There are so many wonderful texts available which are actually full of useful poignant information. This text, I do not think to be one of them.

The techniques presented are either clinically insignificant or best learned from a 'basic' massage course.

This is not a text that I would recommend to a serious manual therapist with aspirations of treating anything more than basic 'aches'. I'm afraid I do not believe that it provides anything particularly useful to the serious clinician.

I consider the use of the term 'Orthopedic' in the title to be misleading, suggesting that the text may offer something more than ruddy presentations of basic massage techniques and cursory descriptions of pathology.

...An approach that does not lend credit to either massage or orthopedics.

Unimpressive and uninspiring. Best suited as a basic massage class work book, than the serious text book that it claims to be.
