The first thing I noticed about the Massive Black art book is that it's titled Volume 1. It's safe to guess that there's going to be other volumes in the future. That is great because this book is very good.

The book is a paperback edition housed inside a slipcase. There are 192 pages and they are relatively glossy. The binding is great too. This book is a fingerprint magnet, and I left a few when I first held it.

Right at the start is an inspiring company's history. You'll get to read about how they started the company with $6000 to build it to a world class art studio where their art workshops look no different from rock concerts.

Inside the pages contain an impressive portfolio of illustrations and concept art created for too many clients. There are character designs, environment paintings and 3D modelings. The level of technical quality is top notch, of course.

Because the clients are mainly from the movie and gaming industry, most of the art pieces relate to the fantasy and sci-fi genre, oftentimes dark. It's like entering a different world just by looking at the paintings, the characters.

Massive Black Volume 1 has managed to put a smile of art lust and fascination on my face. It's highly recommended for concept artists, art directors, video game art lovers and people who just like good art.

Massive Black creates some beautiful work and it is well showcased in this quality book.

The quality of the book is very good. The slip cover works well to protect the book
and he printing is very nice the wide range of art done in the book is super and
I really feel this is a must for any one wanting to learn to do Character Design to
see examples of some very ideas developed nicely.

This is a really nice book from Massive Black. It was interesting to see the number of projects they have worked on. The printing quality is rather high since it's from Ballistic publishing. Purchasing the book directly from Concept Art helps benefit the site.

I'm really hoping for a volume 2 from these guys. I wanted to see more. Although it's really an art book, it might be nice to have a little more insight from the guys who make up Massive Black. I'm sure in future volumes they'll have more material.

Some of my favorites were from Kemp and Nox.

If anyone is interested in understanding high quality concept art, this book is a must buy. This book has a wonderful eclectic body of work from the varies artist who work at MB. Amazing characters, creatures, environments, designs, etc, it goes on. A great book full of inspiration that will last a life time.

This book is filled with some of the best concept art around, this book is a must if you are an art student trying to get into the field
