A calculus book anyone can learn from,
This review is from: Master the AP Calculus AB & BC, 2nd Edition (Peterson's Ap Calculus) (Paperback)
This book was incredible.
The reasons I loved this book: 1.) The layout is perfect 2.) It was actually very funny reading this book. 3.) Even the hardest calculus concept were explained in a very simple manner. I am very confident I got a 4 or 5 on the AP calculus exam because having this book along with studying the free response questions from old ap exams. Reading this book was extremely helpful, especially in the beginning learning the fundamentals of calculus.

Perfect book to study calculus,
This review is from: Master the AP Calculus AB & BC, 2nd Edition (Peterson's Ap Calculus) (Paperback)
I was too tired of pre-calc class, so i decided to self-taught calculus.
I was unsure if i can understand calculus from study guide like this but this book is amazing. With humorous notes, it gives clear discriptions and reasonalbe explanations. I definately recommand this book to self-taught or to review calculus

THE CALCULUS GUIDE TO YOUR LIFE,

This review is from: Master the AP Calculus AB & BC, 2nd Edition (Peterson's Ap Calculus) (Paperback)
Seriously. I GOT A 4 ON THE CALCULUS EXAM :D
There are some minor erros in this book as others have pointed out but overall if you are good at math, this book is very comprehensive and clear-cut. It is also humorous. It reviews all the concepts very well and after this, the multiple choice on the exam is so easy! Although, the free-response isn't practiced as much in here. My suggestion: Get this book and use it throughout the year and then rereview major concepts before the exam. Print out the free-response questions on the collegeboard site and practice with them. I wish I had gotten a 5 but I know I probably would have gotten a 3 without this book. If I had started reviewing like 4 weeks earlier instead of 2 weeks earlier, I could have probably absorbed the information better as well :D

If you have ANY trouble with Calculus, BUY THIS BOOK. This is the best possible book you can have for the exam. I had the worst possible teacher and textbook for Calculus AB, and this book saved my AP exam grade. I would not have received any college credit for the exam if it weren't for this book. I actually borrowed Barrons to practice with as well, but I gave up because the problems were convoluted AND there were numerous typos littered throughout the book, which made me even more confused.
This book is super easy to read, and it's humorous so it helps me concentrate better. It's super thorough, and the answer explanations are wonderful. I went through all the AP portions and practiced with all their problems before the AP exam, and it cleared up a lot of things I was struggling with. Every answer explanation is thorough and follows a step-by-step process. It's helpful to review using the Collegeboard's released AP Calculus multiple-choice exams and free-response questions as well. For ANY test - whether AP or SAT -, practice is key. The book begins with the typical introduction about what the book is about, what the AP exam is about, and how to study for the exam utilizing the book. It follows with reviewing calculus prerequisites - basically things you SHOULD know and memorize before attempting any Calculus. It then follows with chapters organized by calculus topics. Finally, you have four practice tests to test your skills. I love how this book includes graphing calculator methods that my teacher never taught and the textbook that I had never mentioned. It's useful to know them for the AP exam because it will save you time. If you're not strong in math, this book is wonderful as a companion to any textbook you may have. It would've been super helpful if I had used this book while learning Calculus. There is no way your score won't improve if you go through this book thoroughly, unless you were already a math genius to begin with. I used this book to prepare for the Collegeboard's 2010 AP Calculus exam, and I STILL find it useful because I'll have to use Calculus in college again. Math never changes, and the Collegeboard test really doesn't change that much in regards to Calculus, so don't worry about whether or not this book will still be relevant. Chances are, it will be. This book is wonderful, even for a college student who just wants to brush up on his or her calculus skills.

Very Good Book,
This review is from: Master the AP Calculus AB & BC, 2nd Edition (Peterson's Ap Calculus) (Paperback)
This book was excellent for Review
Its got a great sense of humor also every problem is fully explained thats definitly a plus. the practice tests are harder then the real thing, which is good to know. unfortunately, anyone who took the Ap calc AB formA knows that the CB gave the hardest FR questions ever. It was nothing like the previous FR questions, and everyone got messed over bad. i was extremely confident for a 5, and i probably got a 4 now. good book though. |
