This torch works well for both heat shrink and soldering.
I would recommend this unit when working with 10 ga. (and smaller) wire and heat shrink.

Warning: All of the tips shown in the photo are not included. You get: one soldering tip, one hot air tip and the heat shrink attachment only. Read the description!
Update: Thank you for updating to a more accurate photo!

I bought this iron so that I wouldn't have to drag my fancy-schmancy bench iron around for remote jobs. Now it's just my go-to iron. It's so handy with its metal case. Just enough extra room for a tube of flux and a tube of solder. The catalytic exhaust port is perfect for applying shrink tubing and the like. It is quite powerful and can dump out more heat and volume than even my Hakko. I find myself using the 1-5 heat range in the "2-ish" range for most jobs. Of course it's not actually temperature controlled, you just adjust the 1-5 valve to flow more or less fuel, more like a conventional iron. Perhaps a smaller tip would be handy, the one that comes with it is pretty big for delicate work, but it is replaceable --and I've never ordered a smaller one, so it must not be TOO big. Love the iron --it is a quality piece of work, almost a piece of art.

I chose to try this soldering iron because of the great reviews it had received. I was not disappointed. It gets hot in less than 10 seconds, and will melt the solder to get to work. I own several other expensive plug in irons that have never given the results that I get from this iron. I threw out my other electric plug in irons.

I work at a new car dealer and have a lot of solder work to do. This is by far the best Iron on the market and the auto ignite feature makes it that much better then the rest. by far 5 Stars! Fuel lasts a long time with the heat setting in the middle.

My husband is an oilfield electrician who works outside in VERY winy conditions in West Texas. This product worked so well for his needs that we ordered a second one for one of his co-workers.

We bought this so we could solder the wires for our low voltage landscape lights without having to drag an extension cord along. We have a lot of modifications we are doing to our outdoor lighting. The battery operated one I had was just not strong enough to even heat up the heavy gage wire, not to mention the corrosion on the old wire in the ground was a big hinderance. We used a solder torch for a short while but they are so freaky hot and hard to use without accidently burning the wire coating or the area around where your working. We had reservations (due to the high price) but took a chance and bought this one. It is a great solder iron. We don't even bother with any other soldering irons we have and we have a variety. Read and follow the instructions and it will always work. I have read reviews where people have trouble and it almost always sounds like they didn't fully read the instuctions for lighting and using this iron. So easy and so hot when you need it. We swear by it and would advise even people who don't need a wirerless solder iron. If you buy it you will find yourself grabbing it instead of the plug in one, no matter what the job.

I bought this torch to use in my job as an avionics technician. I needed a little bit more heat than my current UT40SI provided, plus I liked the added fuel level window it has. It is about 2 inches longer than the 40SI model so it won't fit in as many places but it ignites quickly ( better button system than the slide on the 40SI) and it's easy to see when it is ignited, which the 40SI model isn't. I used it for the first time yesterday, when my current 40SI model broke down. I found this torch is easily controllable, allowing pin point solder application and allows for rapid heat adjustment during use as well. Also it was not as susceptible to drafts, that is to say a quick, unexpected gust of air doesn't cause it to stop being able to solder for a few seconds until the heat is regained. All in all an excellent addition to my tool box.
