Product Description

This Tai Chi sword is stainless steel with a mirrored polished finish. The sword is more rigid than a spring steel blade, but don't let that dissuade you. The sword is very firm in the handling but still has a great range of flexibility.

It is perfect for practicing tai chi.

I like that it has just enough weight to be substantial, but not enough to tire one out prematurely.

The sword is well made of good material and looks good also.

This sword blade looks nice. You can see your reflection on it, but it is a little stiff. It weighs 3 lbs 3.75 oz (560 g) without the tassle and its balance point is about 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) from where the handle connects to the blade (closer is better). My instructor tells me that this is more suited for decoration than for tai chi competition. You should ask your instructor before buying this sword. The scabbard is made of plastic and the handle is made of rubber. The yin yang symbol on the handle was not glued on clean, but from a distance, it looks good.

Master Chinese Tai Chi Practice Sword Well Balanced New
This Sword Is amazing for the price. Great Balance, and a secure feel for practice, Though the tip is slightly sharp, Due to the way the edges are dulled. The polished steel is gorgeous, and it is well and securely packaged when shipped, so You have no worries about it being damaged on delivery. I have used it for practice of Wushu forms (Eight Immortals, Mainly) and for solo Tai Chi practice.

Buy it. Great Deal for the money.

Very good sword. Edges are slightly sharp (I was practicing tonight, and was experimenting and nicked the top few layers of skin on my left palm) but it's not sharp enough to practically cut someone.

Balance is a little off (a couple of inches above the hilt), but other than that, it is a very great sword.

The final outcome was fair and the product is a good one at a fair price. The product originally sent was defective. It ultimately was replaced with no additional shipping and handling charges. Arriving at the fair settlement was frustrating. The dealer didn't contact me in earnest until I posted a negative review on the Amazon website, and had gotten Amazon customer service involved. The negative review was removed from the website after the eventual satisfactory resolution of my consumer complaint.

The weight reminds me it is not a toy. And it is safe because it is not sharpened. The overall design is beautiful. It could be improved by having a better hanger ribbon.

Although I am fairly new to T'ai Chi, I have been a collector of historical and reproduction swords for many years. My two cents worth is that this is a very good sword for the beginner, especially when you consider the price. If you are getting serious with your art, then by all means invest in something of a higher quality and price... but if you're just starting as I am, this is one of those rare happy accidents of low price yet decent item... I can't imagine you'll ever find this in WalMart.

I do like this sword, just wish it were balanced better. The balance point seems to be about 3-4 inches into the blade, not in the handle, which makes it a little more difficult to handle. Otherwise, it's great. The blade is stiff, which is what I wanted. The decoration at the end of the handle did start to unravel quickly, so i took it off.

As a swordsman I was looking for a decent practice piece for my students. The sword pictured is a Cas Hanwei sword. This is a piece of crap. The furniture was loose, scabbard fittings loose, the blade was rusty and it was defined as "more rigid than spring steel", yet the blade is wushu steel. Not worth the money, now I have to waste my time to send it back!
