Best book to challenge church doctrine, July 30, 2010
This review is from: The Master-Christian (Hardcover)
This book challenges social mores, and traditional religious beliefs/religious DOCTRINE while teaching about the true love of Christ (vs. "Christian") through a very detailed scandal of art, murder, love, lust, liars, illegitimate children, positioning for power, and forgiveness without smut.
That it was written in the late 1800s and is as relevant today, traversing 3 centuries, should give it standing to be republished and make you curious to read it. For those who stand on doctrine/rules, I urge you to read through to the end before judging this book.
Marie Corelli is a master at character and plot development. It is thick with detail. As the book is more than a century old, it's easy to find a version online (and I've intentionally left out plot/character in this review for that very reason--the first 50 pages will have you hooked) but for those who love real books, this is a gem to add to your collection.
