More than a 5 Stars Book! Worth every penny and more.....,

This book is the answer when you're looking for a genuine way to improve your life with feng shui. If you're looking for a book that provide quick fix solutions simply by moving your furnitures, clearing your clutters and placing symbols, this book is not for you. Feng shui is much more deep than just an art of placement (which is normally last on the list). You will have to read this book from chapter one and do the excercises to fully understand the whole concept. It's time consumming but it's well worth the time. Have you seen a lot of Feng Shui books that the author has spent the time to set up exercises so that the readers can have a solid understanding of what's being said? There's no second book on the market that shares with you so much knowledge (including enhancements and countermeasures) for such little price. Of course this is not a book for a lazy person. There is a lot of information (no fancy colored photos nor fancy printing paper) and you will find yourself reading the book over and over again and still find new information each time. I have read so many books on Feng Shui that are in English and this book by far is only one that I recommend. The method of working the flying stars that Eva shows in the book is the most widely used by practioners in Asia and is the most sophisticated tool of Feng shui. Buy this book if you're serious about Feng shui. The title "A Master Course in Feng Shui" really gives this book justice. The book is not just for entertainment, it really is a home-study course that will give you enough confidence to work on your own Feng shui. I am ever grateful to Dr. Eva Wong for her graciousness for sharing her invaluable knowledge on Feng Shui. Thank you so much and hopefully you will consider publishing another feng shui book in a near future. Trinh Nguyen

"THE" Book on Fengshui,
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
Fengshui is a complicated subject which really takes years of training. I've bought several books on Fengshui and none of them came to my expectations as this book. This is "THE" book for authentic Fengshui. Most of the books out there are repetitious, explaining Black Tortise, Red Raven, White Tiger, Green Dragon, etc... yes... so?? and??? you wouldn't get the feel of what Fengshui is.This book lets you get that "mystical" feel of Fengshui. It explains how to use it practically in your life, how to calculate harmonious places in your house, how to really use the compass, etc. I love this book so much. The pages in my book are falling apart, since I flip the pages so often. The book offers a course like study, letting you develop the feel by yourself with the excercise given. By the end of the course, you would be able to adjust your room or house according to the Fengshui rules.

By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
A Master Course In Feng-Shui is a complete, illustrated, and systematic course for home study in the ancient practice of Feng Shui. Readers will learn how to apply feng shui principles to evaluate the external environment, use a geomantic compass to chart patterns of energy within a building, plan the usage of space, match occupants to a home or apartment, decide upon the appropriate placement of furnishings and furniture, improve the feng-shui of an existing structure with countermeasures, enhancers, and renovations, build a new house from scratch, as well as selecting or designing an apartment, business suite, or retail space. A Master Course In Feng-Shui is enthusiastically recommended reading for students and practitioners of feng shui principles to enhance their accommodations and their personal well-being.

Very Helpful and Informative book! All you need.,
By Twilight Angel (Seattle Wa USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
I was amazed! This is a wonderful book on feng shui. I have purchased other books on feng shui that seemed 'pretty' accurate and 'kind of' helpful, but this one is right on the mark. She takes you through all the necessary steps to learning how to really do feng shui on your home or business. At first I was leary of learning the Nine Pallace or Flying Stars form of feng shui. It seemed to complicated to figure out for a person not raised in a budhist or taoist environment, but Eva Wong's book walks you through it step by step. Complete with tests and work sheets so you can make sure you know your stuff! Seriously a great book!

A master course for self study.,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
This is a great instructional book in both content and structure. Being involved in professional training myself (non-Feng Shui related), I can verify (from a trainers perspective) that it is effective for individual home-study and that the structure, content, language, examples and review questions are all aligned with its prime purpose: to provide practical education- a how-to-do-it-yourself guide for individuals. The course is applicable to evaluating a house (or apartment); its location, its structure and floorplan. It then teaches you how to arrange the rooms and interior features and when/how to apply enhansing features or protective ones. This is what many other Feng Shui books try to achieve yet fail, because they are not designed for effective learning (i.e. a book can be excellent in presenting a theory yet very poor as a training manual). This is what makes Wong's book trully superior to other books. Thus, if you are more interested in the history and philosophy of Feng Shui this is not the book; for this buy her previous book. Highly recommended.

Excellent book, but beware!,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
Having read numerous books on the subject, I'd say that Ms. Wong's "A Master Course in Feng Shui" is truly an outstanding one. It's not easy reading, because it deals with very complex subjects, but since it's a workbook, you can always keep checking the level of your understanding. But! If you have read about and applied either Compass School or Black Sect FS before, beware! Ms. Wong uses Authentic FS and you'll realize it has very little to do with what you've believed about this ancient art of placement earlier, so it might just either confuse or kind of disappoint you. I'd say that if one of those schools have worked for you, just stick with them.

As intereresting as Feng Shui is, it is undeniable it can be a little complicated. This book clearly explains and gives examples and descriptions (even do-it-yourself excersises!) of many situations of good and bad FS. Once you've read and understood the different sections you can actually apply this knowledge to your own home and business. It is not for those who get easily bored, don't really like to read or want something faster for their houses or offices (for you, there's 'Feng Shui DOs & TABOOs', by Angi Ma Wong), but if you really are interested in this subject as science, DO buy it, read it once, twice and then turn your house into whatever kind of place you've always wanted it to be.

Looking for a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T?,
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
In "A Master Course in Feng Shui", Eva Wong provides the FS novice through practitioner with substantial FS theory, application, and exercises on a wide range of subjects such as site evaluation, matching the person(s) to the building/site, space usage, & commercial layouts. Her explanations of counter measures and enhancers are throrough and in-depth. Ms. Wong even gracefully and successfully maneuvers the concepts of the Landform and Flying Star schools - not an easy feat. From a non-FS standpoint, the concepts in this book are wonderfully organized and chunked to allow for maximum absorption. Although this is a fairly technical book, Eva Wong manages to provide an enjoyable reading experience by infusing the book with her formal, yet coherent and logical writing style. I absolutely love the exercises at the end of each chapter. Unlike many adult-learning texts, she does not patronize her readers by providing easily answered questions. On the contrary, the reader will have an accurate gauge of his/her comprehension of the pertinent material after completing the end-of-chapter exercises. With the plethora of FS books on the shelves today, it is disappointing the majority of them are heavy on hype and short on substance. Whether the authors are guilty of recycling their old, worn material continuously or penning "books" which are little more than beefed-up brochures for their workshops or schools, they all fail to deliver on the basic promise to provide their readers with genuine FS knowledge and tools. Eva Wong's "Master Course in Feng Shui" more than delivers on this promise. In addition, her respect for her readers is evident by her dispensing of FS techniques most FS authors deem "too advanced" for their readers. Ms. Wong actually gets that most of us are adults *gasp* and can quite nimbly grasp concepts beyond tying our own shoelaces. So, on this alone, Ms. Wong would have gotten my kudos. If you, like me, are tired of getting gypped and looking for a FS book with real meat and written by a true expert, this is the book for you. It will be a book you will reference over and over again. If credentials are important, Ms. Wong is a true lineage holder of the Hsüan-k'ung and practices San-yüan and San-ho. More importantly, if you are looking for some respect as an adult and committed FS learner, then this is the book for you. Ms. Wong is a class act and a "Master Course in Feng Shui" reflects this in every aspect.

Serious book not for the dilettante or the weak-hearted,
By
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
I started reading this book after reading Principles of Feng Shui by Larry Sang because I am seriously interested in the history of feng shui as a methodology for living harmoniously with the environment. Any serious reader will want to read this book and do the exercises to get a better understanding of geomancy and the way alignment can be a metaphor for spiritual and emotional "alignment" as well as moral and social.
Dilettantes and wannabes who are interested only in interior decorating or furniture placement need not apply. They should check out interior decorating books instead. I would recommend this book highly to anyone who is interested in truly learning about feng shui, the historical and authentic practice and not the watered-down, dumbed-down New Agey version of crystals and charms.

Bitterly Disappointed,
By Undyn Amethyst (Sandpoint, ID) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Master Course in Feng-Shui (Paperback)
Whereas I entirely respect the depth and quality of the lessons in the book, Eva Wong does not follow through with her promise and goal to actually teach the people who buy this book. I should have brought the book to quote the page--will do an update. Any question I posed to her--as encouraged in her book to do via email--was met with the offer to charge me for a consultation, not answers to my questions. To truly achieve her goal, I feel Eva Wong would have been most effective posting a chat room and monitoring it as her time and resources allowed--hence permitting students to truly learn and "master" the material offered. And since money and advertising seem to be the true motivations for this book, an online certification course would have been an ideal set-up. While this book is well written, organized and provides a sound basis to BEGIN feng shui, it leaves the reader disempowered by unrealistic feng shui solutions. For instance, I can't just rebuild a section of my house; what's done is done. The ominous prophecies presented by Eva Wong smack strongly of more McFengshui: a serious illness will befall a family member. Sorry, my husband just won't go for that. Ultimately, the reader is left begging for more knowledge--with no one to turn to for more. I finally stumbled on to www.qi-whiz.com, Feng Shui Ultimate Resource--an organization of architects intent on debunking faux feng shui-- to discover some potentially more in depth resources. Bitterly Disappointed.
