5.0 out of 5 stars SOLAR GLOBE'S A GOOD CHOICE
This solar globe light's amazing! I bought one 6 months ago, and every night, it puts on a "colored light show" in my back yard, above my jacuzzi. I have other solar lamps in my yard, but this one burns the longest every night.

ONE CAUTION: The plastic outer casing is fragile, and cracks & breaks if dropped.

2.0 out of 5 stars Water leaked in when used in pond.
I just built a pond and wanted to add something a little special for night time parties. Worked great for about two nights then while taking it out of the pond for the day to charge up I noticed about a cup and a half of water on the bottom of the globe. The bottom was tight but water somehow leaked through to the inside. I opened it up and the batteries where all...

4.0 out of 5 stars Light Globe, March 13, 2006
I bought two globes about three week ago. They are working nicely. I didn't put them in the pond so I not sure how they will do in the water. We put them on some poles on our floating dock. They are really bright and unique. I'm planning a buying a couple more.

I just built a pond and wanted to add something a little special for night time parties. Worked great for about two nights then while taking it out of the pond for the day to charge up I noticed about a cup and a half of water on the bottom of the globe. The bottom was tight but water somehow leaked through to the inside. I opened it up and the batteries where all soaked rusted. I took those out of the globe and drained the water. I let sit for about 3 days to dry out and then I put it back in the sun to charge. That night it didn't work or even turn on. If I didn't take the water out of the globe, the batteries would have leaked and destroyed the globe anyway. I give it two stars for decent shipping for the store. The globe itself gets 0.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievably bright for a solar LED, May 24, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We have a small pond and I wanted something to brighten it with light at night without having to hook anything up. The solar globe light is fairly large, not basketball size, but definitely softball. The construction seems solid and so I was confident in place the item in the water. The solar panel is situated inside the plastic shell so is invisible (how the UV passes through the plastic is a mystery to me) and The base where the nicad batteries are held is at the bottom protected by a rubber gasket. During the day the globe deceptively looks like a child's ball accidentally discarded into the water but of course, nightime is when the fun begins...

This item is incredibly bright - much more so than standard garden solar lights and the transition between all the colors of the rainbow is smooth and looks awesome. Interestingly though the light doesn't cast much ambience so you have a kind of floating 'dot' rather than an omni light reflecting on the water (as shown in the picture). The light lasts all night too.

All in all a great buy especially given the price. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was a gift, January 9, 2007

I gave this solar globe as a gift and she put it out by the pool it was brighter than any of the other lights out there. However on the second night it was not as bright so we learned it has to be in direct sunlight for fullest benifits. Which is logical. Overall I am very pleased with the globe.

The first night the ball glowed different colors, looked great. The next day, the battery had a full day of sunshine to recharge, but that night the glow was barely visible. Since then, no light at all. This product was a waste of my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Solar Powered Light Globe, May 13, 2007
The Solar Powered Floating Light Globe is a great product. As long as you place it in the full sun, it will give hours of ever-changing vibrant color during the night. It's placed on the deck so it's visible when using the spa and it even works while floating in the spa. Can also be used indoors in a relatively dark room (while watching TV for instance) adding much ambiance. The key to a good light show is full sun; if it is overcast, it won't absorb enough energy to power the changing colors for very long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect, June 20, 2008
We decided not to put it in water but its just as nice on land. Make sure that you get the size that you want though. They do come in different sizes. Everyboy loves it.
