Wonderful book. Very Touching, March 18, 2002
I loved this book. I read it in one setting. I couldn't put it down. I had read this authors books under another name but was thrilled when I found this book. This is the story of the most feared knight in the land, Draven and a very willful woman named Emily. We first meet Draven when he and Emily's father are before the king arguing about the on going feud between them. Both blame each other for the attacks on their land. The king decides that in order to make these two come to a peace that Emily shall spend one year in Draven's care and that Draven must never touch her or else he will die. They both agree and Draven gives his vow of honor not to touch her in anger or in lust. Little did he know how hard that vow would be to keep. Emily is a beautiful woman who longs for a husband and family of her own. Her father is overprotective of her and her sisters. She is thrilled to get the chance to be free for a while and decides to set her sights on Draven. When they first meet he takes her breath away. She decides right then and there that he will be hers and she always wins. Draven is not unaffected by her and its a constant struggle for him to keep his distance. He longs to love her but is afraid the demon inside him will hurt her and drive her away forever. They must find the laughter and the love they both deserve and bring peace between two families. Kinely MacGregor makes you really feel the sorrow and the pain the characters feel. She has wonderful side characters that make the book a whole. There is humor, passion, love and tenderness all wrapped up inside.

great medeival book, August 5, 2002
I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read master of seduction too (the history of draven's brother). Draven is a famous knight, powerfully built, that manages to intimidate anyone he meets with his fame in battles and stern character. He is a man that talks little, never laughs and keeps his thoughts to himself. When he is ordered by the king to take Emily in his castle he tries to stay away from her as she is the daughter of his enemy and also believes that his rage could prove uncontrollable when it comes to her. But what surprises him is that Emily is not afraid of him as everyone else is. She stands up to him, speaks her own mind and she is determined to get him to marry her! They are attracted to each other but too many obstacles stand between them. Of course, as in every romance they find a way to get through them and live happily ever after. The humor was perfectly balanced with Draven's tortured past so you couldn't name it a light read not a heart-wreching one. It certainly was extremely easy to read and I couldn't leave it of my hands. Emily is determined, willful and also romantic and sweet. Draven is the typical medeival hero: gorgeous, tough outside but warm for those who know him. Go out and read it!!!

Made me believe in romance again, May 10, 2001
Draven has sworn to never marry and Emily is after a husband. Forced to live together in a unique situation, these two titans clash from the very beginning. But what I loved most was watching their friendship build. There were no stupid misunderstandings that left me rolling my eyes. No childish antics. What we have here is two grown-ups with real problems who come together in spite of their fears and uncertainties and find a lasting love. This book really made me believe that love can conquer all. Curses, family feuds, treacherous villains, you name it. It's been a really long time since I read a book that left me feeling so good inside. If you LIKE romance. If you like men and strong, competent heroines and most importantly if you like a book that touches all your emotions, then run to the nearest store and do yourself a favor. Buy Master of Desire. You won't regret it. My only questions now are, will Simon have a book of his own and when's the next one due out? I know I'll be the first in line to get it.
