It is too, the one and only 5th Dimension!,
By
This review is from: Master Hits (Audio CD)
The unfortunately first reviewer is out of his tree--this is indeed the original 5th Dimension, and if you like their hits, you may buy with confidence! Their Up Up and Away collection is more comprehensive and their first five albums are available on CD as well--check them out!

Only The Best,
By Cynthia S Harvey (Romeoville, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Master Hits (Audio CD)
This budget priced CD is a wonderful introduction to the music of The Fifth Dimension! No matter how hard I try, I just can't put a label on this group. They're not exactly rock and roll, not exactly easy listening, not exactly rhythm and blues and not exactly- well, not exactly anything! To try and find their music in a regular music store is an adventure- their CD's can be placed in any one of those sections and not be out of place. This CD is the best, though. It contains ten of their biggest hits and is priced ridicously low. It's been in my car CD player for weeks now- I just keep listening to it over and over again- it's that good! Some of the titles may not strike you as songs you know- but one listen and I'll bet you'll remember them. This CD is pure gold!

Excellent!,

This review is from: Master Hits (Audio CD)
This is an excellent collection of hits from the 5th Dimension. They're all here including "Up-up and Away", "Stoned Soul Picnic", "Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In", "Wedding Bell Blues", "One Less Bell to Answer" and "Last Night I Didn't Get to Sleep at All". The album has been digitally re-mastered so the sound is clearer. This is a great album that will satisfy casual listeners and those who are just discovering the 5th Dimension! Die-hard fans might want to seek out a more comprehensive collection instead, but for the price this is a neat collection that is very enjoyable and easy on the ears as the harmonies are so heavenly and the melodies are well crafted and very memorable. Highly recommended!

same stuff but great stuff,

Yes, as other reviewers point out there is nothing new here, but the remastered versions of the "same old" hits sound terrific and this is a great CD if you want all your Fifth Dimension hits in one place. Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In has got to be one of the top 50 songs of all time, totally evocative of the hippie era and, even listening to it thirty years after the fact, brilliantly orchestrated and arranged. And even on the lesser songs Marilyn McCoo's smooth voice is irresistible and the arrangements are full of life and imagination.

Efficient and effective,

This is a good primer for the group's biggest and best hits.If you like airy, well crafted, mostly upbeat group singing this is the place to go. This is fun pop, precisely, joyfully executed and easy to listen to because of those qualities. If you want more you could spring for the Anthology. As is, this is all the Fifth Dimension you need.

A Perfect Collection!!,

First let me address the obvious ignorance of the reviewer from Rome, Italy: Not the original recordings by The 5th Dimension? What?! Umm, excuse me, but, how should I put this delicately: YOU'RE WRONG!!!! Go back and listen to your old 45's, buddy. This here collection is the real McCoo!
Folks, if you're seeking to find just the "right" collection of the "best of the best" of The 5th Dimension, seriously, look no further! Now, let me qualify what I'm saying: Sure, there are compliations that cull more from the group's catalog; however, there really isn't a better simple "greatest hits" album than this one. Boo on those other reviewers who "pooh-pooh" this CD. Come on, give me a break! All that whining about not having enough "new stuff". I love The 5th's sound, but I find it difficult to comprehend why people can't understand the reason more of the group's material (i.e., other original studio albums) aren't available on CD. Well, duh, unless record labels believe that they're going to get a MAJOR return on the effort, they're NOT going to take a chance by painstakingly remastering, repackaging, and reproducing the group's wonderful artistic work. ABC's "Earthbound" is a great recording; why hasn't it ever been released on CD? Well, maybe record labels are a bit hesitant because it was not commercially successful the first time around, back in 1975. Until then, please just let those of us who are seeking a succinct collection of the quintet's best performances be very satisfied with this one. Bravo to you, Arista for making this collection--beautifully remastered--available to us: the buying public!

All of this classic group's studio albums have to be issued on cd in any country...There is so much fans due not have on cd....Shame on arista for wanting another $10 from fans for the same songs!

Bad deal! Never, ever received!!,
By
This review is from: Master Hits (Audio CD)
I ordered this item on June 3. Two+ weeks into ordering, I could see it was apparent that it was not coming my way. I contacted the seller, who validated it had been sent, but I feel their response was "canned", or an automated reply. I contacted them again after 3 weeks. Again, kindly (to their credit...) they assured me it was sent. It never, ever came. The seller told me their "refund policy" was to wait a full 30 days from the date of order, and if I hadn't received it, they would issue a full refund. That is where I am in this entire, month-long process. Disappointed, tired of having to take the initiative to get some action done, in order to make me a satisfied customer.

WHAT?,
This review is from: Master Hits (Audio CD)
How can you review an item that you paid for and never received? The only thing I can say about this is Rossico and Amazon was real good at taking my money, yeah they got paid. I ordered this cd from Rossico through Amazon on April 4, 2009, it is now May 9th still no cd. OH YEAH, contacted the seller twice, no response. Contacted Amazon on the 28th of April, was told to wait till the 1st of May, GUESS WHAT? YOU GUESSED IT NO CD. Put in a claim with Amazon on the 1st of MAY. GUESS WHAT-YOU GUESSED IT- NO RESPONSE. So, I can't review the item, but they both get a thumbs down for item not received. But, they get a A rating for takeing your MONEY.
